The transmission was knocking occasionally. I was hoping to have it fixed but the mechanic screwed it up even more, so I just scrapped the car. However, given all the problems I had with this car, like the ABS module had to be repaired, both front suspension springs broke TWICE, front ball bearing in the wheel, the radiator went when the car was 6 yrs old, the radio was going crazy changing 20 stations a minute, and a few others, like I had the timing belt replaced, I would not touch a volvo with a ten foot pole again. Noise at start up, they said this engine rattle noise is normal but did an engine pan gasket replacement to increase the oil pressure. Had click noise at idle, when shift from P to D or R, they changed lots of parts and then they said it is from within the tranny so no fix other than changing tranny, I didn't do it. Front sway bar links. Top engine mount. ETC upgrade. I took the car back, told them they did unnecessary repairs and the problems still there. Based on my own research the engine noise at start up is from the cam gear assembly, I paid only 200 CAN and rest on them, so they changed those and it was fixed!
