left rear brake pad had to be replaced since it was completely worn out. Rear disks and pads had been replaced previous year and apparently that brake stuck and heated so much that the paint on the disk hub burned, as rust attest.

C $200
Rear left disk and brake pads replaced at half the price dealer charged two years previously. None of those dealers were able to correctly diagnose a seized caliper. So easy to compare both rear brake calipers by hand rotating the wheels once the car is jacked up! I use my car only summers, so problems pop up during the summer holiday period, and guess who's in the dealer repair shop? Junior mechanics. One scraped the finish on my front Brembo calipers with brake fluid drippings. Ahrrr! I was able to ascertain that the left rear brake caliper must be seized and wouldn't go to dealerships that has twice missed the problem, so I went to a small shop where I could observe the goings-on. As they failed to order a set of brake pads when the problem was a bad caliper, I chose not to wait around for the pads to be delivered and went elsewhere with this.

93000 mi

US $75
Left rear caliper replaced due to sticking (lifetime part warranty from Autozone). Previously replaced 14 months prior. Both rear brake hoses replaced as preventative measure and because sticking caliper caused brake to get very hot.

US $20
Right rear brake was sticking. Caliper was under warranty as it was replaced 18 months ago. During caliper replacement it was found that caliper slide pin was seized (causing brake to stick), so caliper mounting bracket was also replaced.
