The rubber cover on the rear hatch opening switch deteriorated and was nearing failure which would have left the switch open to the elements. Supreme Toyota in Hammond LA replaced the switch and cover with what appears to be a more substantial cover.
The hatch hold-up struts required replacing, they'd weakened. Fully paid for by Toyota's warrantee.
