3-cylinder manual 2WD

62000 mi

Rattling noise since 10000km driven, became only slightly louder over this time. Installed timing chain repair kit, rattling became a bit quieter, rest of it coming perhaps from the sprocket of the first camshaft I did not replace yet is hard to find as a spare part.
46220 mi I had a long way of investigation (I fix my cars on my own) until I tracked the engine noise down to the camshaft adjusting (VVT) sprocket, which failed, resulting in a power loss. I changed the adjuster (200€) and it was done. I also experienced notable oil consumption. I changed the valve shaft sealings which got stiff and worn out.
