Engine ping/knock under load between 2000-3000 rpm. Had extended warranty so tried to get engine serviced before 100,000 miles. First attempt, dealer said they could not reproduce. 6 months later I took the car to a different dealer and drove with a mechanic who heard the noise. They said it was a rattle in the pre-cat. I completely disagree. This is not a rattle, it's a spark knock. It's gotten worse over the past year. Super loud when the engine is cold. Fuel trims look good. I really think it's a timing issue. I've done almost everything short of pulling the heads. |
