2012 Hyundai Veloster 3dr Hatch

138-horsepower 1.6L I4 6-speed automated manual FWD

24000 mi Engine warning light came on during long out trip out of town, car ran very poorly, pinging heavily and struggling up grades/during acceleration. Faulty knock sensor. None in stock, so reflash as stopgap.
27000 mi Asked local dealership try to diagnose/repair (if applicable) previously reprted problem with engine and throttle hesitation/knocking. Dealership said it could not identify problem and that no diagnostic error codes were reported.
11700 mi I started getting a pinging/detonation sound. Brought it to the dealer - they tested everything with the computer. They could not find anything wrong. They said the gas might be bad, but I have gone through 4 different tanks.
44000 mi crank pulley
52000 mi

US $275
For the last 10K miles, engine began to "knock". Brought it into dealer who diagnosed it as a bad "idler pulley". Replaced and repair completely resolved issue. Believe this is a *common* issue with this car @ this mileage.
