Issue persisted, took it to shop where they said that with Subaru's, one needs to drain system, then refill to precise amount, ottherwise cying occurs.
After refilling, it cycled one more time and now works fine. Wife had it set to Auto, max A/C and lowest temp without rolling down windows and driving a few yards to clear the cabin of hot air. Now we set manually down to 70F MAX. Then if we want it colder, we set it lower after the inside has cooled off some. No more issues encoutered.
