The rearview camera was stuck in its operating position out from under the VW emblem/hatch release. It was determined that fuse #18 had blown, and replacing it fixed the problem.

The car has an intermittent AC issue. On cold mornings the Heater will blow very cold air, even as the temp gauge moves abnormally quickly up to normal temp. It feels as if the AC is on, although no indicator light comes on. Manually tuning the AC on and then off seems to reset the system at which point the heater air begins to warm and the temp gauge falss back to where it would normally have been and then registers a more typical increase.
The dealer kept the car for a long weekend but was unable to replicate the problem. It happened again over the Winter but mot since the weather got warmer.
