The car has exhibited a rattle in the trunk area ever since I inspected the tool kit, which is poorly anchored to the chassis of the car. It turns out that the real problem is/was a rattling plastic baffle/plate below the trunk. A "fix" with foam tape didn't work. Will have to return for a full part replacement. In addition the interior rear view mirror vibrates on rough road surfaces. Stuff like this shouldn't happen at all, and it is a waste of time having items like these properly taken care of.
Dec 2017

A persistent rattle, thought to be a "loose tool kit" or something simple turned out to be a loose or detached sway bar. The potential severity of this noise should have been caught and rectified much earlier.

Persistent high-speed vibration. Replaced all 4 tires as it was determined that one or more tires were internally damaged and causing the vibration. The new tires did not solve the problem. Following the purchase of new tires, the wheel vibration persisted. Car was taken to a VW dealer for RFV tire balance. Dealer phase matched tires and wheels in attempt to fix vibration. During previous repair attempt, technician incorrectly mounted asymmetrical tire on wheel. Vehicle needed to be returned so tire could be correctly mounted and balanced. Tire vibration remained present.

Trip 2. CEL set to off. Secondary air exhaust system. Error code p0491 the very next day. Check engine light came on. Squeaking sound from left tyre audible at low speeds. Caliper was digging into the rotor and caused minor damage and caused squeaking. After repair, some noise gone, but still remains. Will take it back. Groaning sound from the driver window when it comes up.

Took the car to another dealer. For the squeaking sound, they tightened wheel nuts claiming the previous dealership didn't do it correctly. The problem re-appeared as soon as the car left this 2nd dealership. For the groaning window, they replaced 2 window seals. But the problem still exists after taking it back from the 2nd dealership.

The key could not be put into the ignition. My wife was stranded 3 times with the same problem. A white plastic piece (dust cover?) blocked the entrance for the key. After searching the internet, I sprayed in lubricant and pried it back with different items (a sucker stick worked well). The last time I pried it back with a flat head screw driver until I heard a snap. I probably broke the plastic piece but we haven't had the problem since (over a month).
