A small crack developed in the plastic trim on the roof that surrounds the sunroof. The dealer worked with a body shop to repair it. The process involved removing the headliner followed by removing and repairing the entire sunroof assembly. The total cost of repair is unknown, since it was covered by the warranty. Due to the extended amount of time required for the roof trim repair, VW bought the car back and I purchased a new GTI.
