4dr Sedan 325-horsepower 4.4L V8 6-speed manual RWD

Why the 2005 BMW 5-Series?

Powertrain performance

V-8--Strong engine, good gearbox. More than enough power for the weight and size of the car.

Handling

Predictable, precise. Allows me to drive better.

Safety & braking

Fantastic brakes. Good safety features--stability control, the usual assortment of ABS, airbags, etc.

Materials & workmanship

Well made, with quality materials. Definitely a step up from the 3-series I owned previously.

Past personal experience

Past experience is with e36 3-series. The car was well-designed and built, solid and a good performer. Owned for 11 years.

Why Not the 2005 BMW 5-Series?

Exterior styling

Funky from some angles. Takes a little getting used to. On the other hand, it can be amazingly good-looking and dynamic from the right angle.

Interior styling

A little staid. But the Bauhaus nature of some of the interior curves and angles is different and pleasing.
