Why Not the 2008 BMW X3?

Reliability & durability

After a long trip, a downshift in the driveway from 2nd to 1st was missed accompanied by slippage and loud noises. In test drive around the neighborhood it continued. Next morning was ok. Dealer unable to find any computer log of event.

Dealer practices

The 1st time check after the above transmission problem (7800 miles) the dealer left grease on the carpets and driver foot support. Also, the dealer installed trailer hitch was expensive and chopped up the lower rear fairing - lousy

Feature availability

The price of the X3 runs up very fast as most desirable features are a la carte and expensive. The interior has some very poor design features. Opening the center console is rediculous. A segmented plastic piece makes it difficult to accomplish.

Audio & nav systems

A single line display makes it difficult to change modes and reset sound characteristics.
