2011 BMW X5 4dr SUV

turbocharged 265hp 3.0L I6 Diesel 6-speed shiftable automatic AWD

1540 mi   metallic noise in right rear suspension when driving over certain speed bumps. Source of problem diagnosed and a temporary lubricant has eliminated noise. A 2nd follow-up visit will be required to insert a longer lasting talcum powder. 2nd trip back to shop for rear suspension metallic noises. Problem briefly cured with injection of talcum lubricant, but noises returned. Due serious unrelated back pain & the challenge of getting in and out of this high up beast, I sold it.

2008 BMW X5 4dr SUV

350-horsepower 4.8L V8 6-speed shiftable automatic AWD

2480 mi   Noise in the front right suspension is very intermittent. Dealers couldn't replicate. Another visit is booked for March for further inspection. 
4340   intermittent suspension noise while driving over uneven roads, could not replicate while at dealership 
6200   Completely dismantled and reassembled suspension. No noise so far.

2005 BMW X5 4dr SUV

46000 mi   Air suspension issues, dealer reprogrammed EHC II module 
46000 US $1000 Replaced rear height sensor and again reprogrammed ECH II module for Air-ride suspension. What a POS system. Next repair(if needed) is to remove the entire thing and go with a nice coil-over set up. 
46000   Full front control arms, tie-rod,end-links and ball joint replacement. 13 parts in total. BMW parts are the suck 
48000   The POS air ride suspension again... needed a new EHC II module. also a GT1 reprogram and ride height sensor. 
49000   Air ride fault (Suspension ECU) 900 bucks... btw when this goes it throws all the ABS into limp mode. 
49000   Air fault again.. LF ride height sensor.

83080   and there was a 1500 dollar repair that needed to be done to the wheels (I don't know what it was). I spent an average of $1,100 a month on repairs during the 16 months I owned it.
