Cadillac Escalade Reliability and Durability: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2007 4dr SUV 403-horsepower 6.2L V8
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Many problems with the vehicle within ONLY THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP. Front passenger side suspension failed twice, air leveling system has problems. Rough idling of engine.
2005 4dr SUT 345-horsepower 6.0L V8
4-speed automatic AWD
Not very good reliability statistics in Consumer reports and www.edmunds.com My EXT has an issue where often when coming out into traffic from a downhill orientation, the stabilitrak comes on and you lose the ability to accelerate. Bulletin but 0 recall.
2002 4dr SUT 345-horsepower 6.0L V8
4-speed automatic AWD
Problems with front and rear differentials and wheel bearings.

From a 13 hour trip to severe snow, the Tahoe has performed greatly
2005 4dr SUV 295-horsepower 5.3L V8
4-speed automatic 4WD w/low range
So far... no problems at all. I hope it stays this way for more years to come.

2005 4dr SUV, ext. 295-horsepower 5.3L V8

The transmission replacement coupled with no way of knowing if another such leak would trash a second hurts our reliability feelings. The front end is also sensitive to tie rod and ball joint damage. Not what one would expect for an "off road" vehicle.
