Reviewed: 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

4dr SUV 182-horsepower 2.4L I4 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD

Why the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox?

Fuel economy

I got the 4 cyl/FWD Equinox. It gets at or better than the city EPA estimate of 22mpg, typically getting 23-24mpg without AC, 22 with AC on. On the freeway, get 31-32mpg without AC, 29-30 with AC.

Safety & braking

Airbags all over the design, excellent crash ratings from NHTSA and IIHS. Braking pedal feel is also firm, stops quickly for the size of the vehicle.

Interior styling

Outstanding interior design with thoughtful touches throughout. The center stack/console is bathed with soft blue light at night, gauges are well designed, controls thoughtfully done, well appointed with exceptionally comfortable seats for long trips.

Quietness

Very quiet interior, muffles nearly all wind noise and road noise is low too. Excellent family vehicle for long trips.

Cargo capacity

Sliding rear seat allows you to expand the cargo area but if you have big adults, you can slide it back.
