Reviewed: 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

4dr SUV 182-horsepower 2.4L I4 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD

Why the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox?

Fuel economy

better than my envoy but not as good as advertised even with eco mode on 100% of the time and light foot, timing lights, etc.

Front seat room

Great - lots of leg room and very adjustable

Interior styling

looks good and well laid out, nice storage compartments

Discounts & incentives

OK - couldnt wait for the good year end deals (dying Envoy)

Why Not the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox?

Driving position & visibility

Rear pillars block view and dark tinted glass make for difficult night driving and backing up.

Handling

FWD not good in ice and snow. I would get awd instead. Watch out for correct tire pressure - if its a little low, it seems to really impact snow handling and milage MUCH more than past vehicles.

Fuel economy

Not as advertised - trying to do all the right things (timing lights, light foot, no idling, tire pressure, etc.) but lower than what i thought i would get when compared to 17.6 for an envoy (15 city/ 21 hwy) with 200,000 miles and bad driving habits.

Materials & workmanship

Seems cheap - welds, seams, etc.

Ride smoothness

Short wheel base = harsh ride. You feel and hear every bump.
