Why the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Exterior styling

The truck looks very aggressive. Even more so when Chevrolet updated the grille and hood for 2006. Also, it is a normal-sized 1/2 ton...not the jumbo size that the F-150 is.

Reliability & durability

My 2006 is a proven performer. Much like any GM truck, the Silverado has a great reputation for reliability and durability, unmatched by any other manufacturer.

Fuel economy

With the specific gears I have in my truck, I get 20+ MPG on the highway...and I have a crew cab truck. City mileage is right in-line with the EPA of 14, but it is no worse than the others.

Powertrain performance

What needs to be said about a GM small block V8? I test drove a Ford with the 5.4 and that engine is an anemic dog. The 5.3 from GM felt much more willing to put power down, and it sounds fantastic. Also, the G80 differential makes the truck unstoppable

Ride smoothness

The truck rides very well. That may give up a little in terms of capability, but I use my truck as a people hauler much more often than I do a truck. I love the ride, very compliant and stable.

Why Not the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Materials & workmanship

The dash materials could be better...but it is not a major thing. The top of the dash uses very hollow, cold and hard plastic. And the radio surround is very cheap as well..but again, these are small gripes.
