Introduction

I picked this car over the Hyundai Elantra (1.8l) due to it having the trunk space and shape that I needed, over the Toyota Tacoma (2.7l) for fuel economy and speed, and over the Dodge Nitro (3.7l) because it was slow and had bad mpg.

Why the 2011 Dodge Avenger?

Powertrain performance

Has plenty of power, no trouble passing at highway speeds or getting around town. Fuel economy is better then estimated, I get around 35-37 mpg highway. It can get fairly noisy inside from the engine noise, but it is normally something that can't be heard with the radio on.

Exterior styling

The car looks good, but it does have two large blind spots and all the pillars are thick. I think of the car as a tank sometimes.

Safety & braking

Brakes work very well and the car is sturdy, I got rear ended and the my car was fine while the other car had to be towed.

Audio & nav systems

The stereo and speakers are very good. The stock speakers can shake all the mirrors. The head unit is simple and easy to use.

Why Not the 2011 Dodge Avenger?

Driving position & visibility

Two large blind spots in the back

Cargo capacity

It has a large trunk, but my friend has a Hyundai Sonata and that car has a much larger trunk

Fuel economy

The city mileage could be better. I average about 19 with lots of short trips, but I've never been able to get over 20 around town even though my driving is a factor in that.

Reliability & durability

The car has been reliable as a whole, but there have been a few minor nuisances. Some insulation came loose and kept brushing against the door making a squeaking sound and the front passenger window occasionally makes a rubbing noise while being opened.
