TrueDelta Reviews the Real Gas Mileage of the Dodge Charger

Dodge Charger Real Gas Mileage: Pros
YearComment
2012 With the 5.7-liter V8, the Charger gets EPA ratings of 16 mpg city, 25 highway. Last year the new 3.6-liter V6 bumped these to 18/27. The addition of an 8-speed automatic for 2012 (for now the V8 soldiers on with the 5-speed) raises the EPA numbers to 19/31. In typical suburban driving the trip computer reported between 19 and 25 depending on the number of red lights and the heaviness of my right foot. On one light-footed 78-mph highway cruise it reported 31.5. These are outstanding numbers for such a large, heavy sedan. see full Dodge Charger review

Dodge Charger Real Gas Mileage: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2013 4dr Sedan 370-horsepower 5.7L V8
5-speed shiftable automatic RWD
I manage to do quite well with fuel economy, about 17 city and 26.5 highway. see full Dodge Charger review
2012 4dr Sedan 292-horsepower 3.6L V6
8-speed automatic RWD
I recently drove from Dublin, Georgia to Port Huron, Michigan. I reset the fuel economy gauge and was VERY HAPPY to find I got 37.0 miles per gallon for the 950 mile trip! Full-size, rear-wheel drive, loaded with a lot of stuff...well, it doesn't get much better than that! see full Dodge Charger review
2006 4dr Sedan 250-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed shiftable automatic RWD
It weights 3800 lb, and returns 28 mpg on the highway, if you use mid-grade or premium fuel. Consumption goes up in winter (24 mpg). There is nothing wrong with these numbers, and in return you get a big, safe car that gives you decent chance in a crash. see full Dodge Charger review

2009 4dr Sedan 250-horsepower 3.5L V6

The chager did not have appealing fuel economy. see full Dodge Charger review

City mileage is not that great. highway mileage is good. see full Dodge Charger review
2007 4dr Sedan 350-horsepower 5.7L V8
5-speed shiftable automatic RWD
Well it is better than my Jeep Grand Cherokee was, but an additional mile or two a gallon would be nice. With all the pluses though a 24 - 25 highway MPG is tolerable. see full Dodge Charger review
2006 4dr Sedan 350-horsepower 5.7L V8
5-speed shiftable automatic RWD
very low if I drive with a heavy foot see full Dodge Charger review
