Why the 2003 Dodge Caravan?

Cargo capacity

This is a Grand Caravan C/V (cargo-van) and I wanted this specific model as I have the need to carry audio equipment. The inside of this van is "cavernous" for its size.

Powertrain performance

3.3 liter V6 is smooth and reliable. (I took one of these motors to 245,000 miles in an earlier model!). Fuel mileage is OK but not superior.

Past personal experience

I owned a 1990 Grand Caravan C/V and took it to 245,000 miles. The only major repair items were: rebuilt tranny once @ 65,000 miles and a fuel pump @ 110,000. Other than that, just fuel, oil and normal maintenace items.

Why Not the 2003 Dodge Caravan?

Past personal experience

The earlier Caravans suffered from tranmission problems which supposedly have been solved. Also, in snow prone areas, the front strut towers tend to rust out prematurely.
