Why the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan?

Price or payments

I picked up a used model well equipped 6 months old with 12,000 miles for $16,500 with an extended powertrain warranty up to 80k miles. Retail KBB was $19k+.

Feature availability

Stow-n-go as well as the 3rd seat storage well. Excellent stereo system. Dual climate controls for driver and passenger. Satellite radio. Love the reclining 3rd row seat and the flip back into tailgate mode. 2nd row seat features integrated child seats.

Ride smoothness

Very smooth and comfortable on long trips. Adequate for around town as well.

Exterior styling

Not the best styling, but not bad either.

Why Not the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan?

Brand reputation & image

Extremely poor reliability expectations of virtually every component on the vehicle.

Reliability & durability

Still not expecting miracles. Probably have to replace the transmission at one point.

Powertrain performance

3.3 liter engine is pitiful compared to the competition. Slow, thrashy, harsh and unrefined.

Exterior styling

Not the best styling, but not bad either. The Dodge version is the least attractive of the Chrysler brands. The lowest rung.
