YearBody/PowertrainComment
2008 4dr Minivan, ext. 197-horsepower 3.8L V6

Stow-n-go seating is very uncomfortable. Rotating seats have no room to sit face to face with rear seat passengers. Base model forces one to get a center bench. see full Dodge Grand Caravan review

What Our Members Are Saying about the Powertrain of the 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan

2009 Dodge Grand Caravan Powertrain: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2010 4dr Minivan, ext. 197-horsepower 3.8L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
The 3.8 V6 is underpowered for the weight of the vehicle. It does OK in hills and mountains with my family of 4 and our luggage for a trip. When loaded down it struggles to get up to highway speed and to maintain speed in hills. The transimission clunks at times and sometimes hard shifts, but it has done that since we bought it to no adverse affects on the powertrain. We've had it for 100,000 miles and have had no issues with powertrain performance or reliability despite the clunking and being underpowered. see full Dodge Grand Caravan review
2010 4dr Minivan, ext. 197-horsepower 3.8L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
This van has the 3.8L V6. It is very under power at 198 HP. The transmission bucks & bangs at inconsistent intervals. Sometimes it will do this a couple days in a row, then not for a week or more. The fuel mileage is not too bad. see full Dodge Grand Caravan review
2008 4dr Minivan, ext. 175-horsepower 3.3L V6
4-speed shiftable automatic FWD
The van was able to sail down the turnpike at 75-80 for hours on end. see full Dodge Grand Caravan review
2008 4dr Minivan, ext. 197-horsepower 3.8L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
My van is equipped with the 3.8 litre, 6 speed automatic transmission. Have had no problems with it. Far superior to the 4 speed automatic transmissions I have had in my 3 previous Chrysler vans. I currently have 141,000 kms logged. see full Dodge Grand Caravan review
2009 Dodge Grand Caravan Powertrain: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2010 4dr Minivan, ext. 197-horsepower 3.8L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Very underpowered with the 3.8 L V6. The transmission is clunky, bucks and slams into gear at times. It doesn't do it all the time, but at inconsistent times. see full Dodge Grand Caravan review
2009 4dr Minivan, ext. 251-horsepower 4.0L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
So far too many problems with this area as well...sad to say. see full Dodge Grand Caravan review
2008 4dr Minivan, ext. 197-horsepower 3.8L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
The 3.8 L seems not nearly as responsive as my 3.8 Ford windstar. I understand that the dogginess just started in 2008. see full Dodge Grand Caravan review
2008 4dr Minivan, ext. 197-horsepower 3.8L V6
