Introduction

This is a great car with excellent passenger capacity, performance, creative storage and modern styling. If we did more highway driving, it would be the ideal car.

Why the 2012 Dodge Journey?

Exterior styling

The updates to the exterior of the car for 2012 include LED taillights. This makes the car feel like a higher end luxury car.

Interior styling

This vehicle has so many places to store items, and they are creatively placed throughout the cabin of the car. Storage in the rear floorboard includes a removable plastic bin making it ideal for storing cold beverages. The built in booster seats are an incredible feature allowing the rear seats to quickly convert for appropriate passengers while requiring no extra storage (i.e. storing the booster seat in the rear of the vehicle). Controls for A/C, Radio and Cruise Control are easily accessible.

Handling

I do not regret paying a little more for the V6 -- this allows the vehicle to get up to freeway speeds effortlessly. My father-in-law remarked one time that he was surprised how much "get up and go" the car has. My sister-in-law has the 4 cylinder version and they envy the extra power the V6 provides.

Price or payments

This is by far the BEST value for an entry level or lower level 7 passenger car on the road today. Ours came in, nicely equipped at just under $27k.

Quietness

This is one of the quietest cars I have ridden in and allows conversations on the phone without the dreaded road-noise.

Why Not the 2012 Dodge Journey?

Fuel economy

The biggest disappointment for the car is the lower fuel economy. On the highway, it gets right around 30, but in town driving suddenly drops to under 20. That's a big difference, and since it is primarily used around town (less than 15% highway) we're paying a bit more in fuel costs.

Cargo capacity

If you have 7 passengers AND a lot of cargo, this is not the car for you. You can either carry 7 passengers OR carry 5 passengers and a good amount of cargo.

Conclusion

I would recommend anyone looking for a vehicle capable of carrying 7 passengers take a good look at the Dodge Journey. We've been very pleased with our purchase.
