We purchased this car with about 100k miles already on it. The car served us well for about a year (40,000 miles). We averaged 31MPG combined w/o the AC on and about 28 with the AC on. We like the car but it had a lot of high pitched noises at all speeds. On 7/4/13 the car suddenly lost all drivetrain power. It was diagnosed with a failed hybrid water pump. A warning should have come on to pull over but did not. By the time the computer shut down the vehicle, it was too late. Ford said a new transaxle is in order at a cost of over $12,000 (includes installation). Think long and hard before you buy into the theory that a hybrid will save you money.
