360-horsepower 5.0L V8 6-speed shiftable automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range

64480 mi Complete FORD OEM long block replacement. Spun cam bearing, small cam chain broke, valves hit piston, total failure.
65100 mi First repair was for broken chain and spun cam bearing, complete long block replacement, as noted in other repair entry. That engine only last 1-2 weeks, which brings me to this entry. Truck was in shop for a total of 6-1/2 months. the first two replacement Ford OEM long block assemblies were faulty. Both blew up almost instantly. One wasn't even allowed to leave the dealership. the 3rd attempt seemed to run ok. Remember these are brand new assemblies supplied by Ford. After the truck came out of shop with a running engine, it was sold a couple weeks later.

175000 mi

US $800
fuel pump causing no start condition intermittently
184000 mi

US $800
Recurring fuel pump issue. After 3 years and 3 different repair shops including a dealer that said no problem found. I figured it myself with the help of youtube. Google the symptom and dozens of answers returns. There is even a TSB. Replace the pump works fine for a few years, replace again thinking it's a Chinese made problem and then a third time. When it started intermittently failing again I googled symptons, found the fuse issue and mine matched the pictures. Need to complete the TSB but did put a a good fuse in there and works fine. The TSB is the gas pump fuse is underrated for the fuse terminals and the fuse melts breaking connection. Can go on for a few weeks of a crank no start condition before the condition reverses and the truck starts. Finally once did it didn’t start and had to fix it. The TSB reroutes power to another terminal in the fuse box with an adapter. There is a Ford part number for this.
