What Our Members Are Saying about the Reliability And Durability of the 2015 Ford Focus

2015 Ford Focus Reliability And Durability: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2012 4dr Hatch 160-horsepower 2.0L I4
6-speed automated manual FWD
Had a clunking noise in first 1000 miles that required front struts to be replaced. Clunking noise appears to be slowly reappearing. Starting to occasionally hear a low groaning noise when transmission shifts between 20 & 30 mph. full 2012 Ford Focus review

2014 4dr Sedan 103-horsepower 1.6L I4

I backed into a GMC people carrier. Massive damage to his front end. Mine looked like it just came off the assembly line. Not even dust on the clearcoat. full 2014 Ford Focus review

What Our Members Are Saying about the Gas Mileage of the 2015 Ford Focus

2015 Ford Focus Gas Mileage: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2013 4dr Hatch turbocharged 252hp 2.0L I4
6-speed manual FWD
Have never managed to achieve the posted fuel economy average for this car (26), even with extremely careful driving,70% highway. Driving it hard nets only a few mpg worse than hypermile type driving. full 2013 Ford Focus review
2012 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.0L I4
6-speed automated manual FWD
It has more horsepower, torque and is quieter than my other car, but gets 4 mpg higher fuel economy in the same driving. full 2012 Ford Focus review
2012 4dr Hatch 160-horsepower 2.0L I4
6-speed automated manual FWD
Very good highway mileage; city mpg average at best full 2012 Ford Focus review
2012 4dr Hatch 160-horsepower 2.0L I4
6-speed automatic FWD
Decent fuel economy. Hitting over 30mpg and occasionaly above 35. full 2012 Ford Focus review
2015 Ford Focus Gas Mileage: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2013 4dr Hatch turbocharged 252hp 2.0L I4
6-speed manual FWD
It's relatively easy in the other Focus models to average low to mid 30's for economy. This matches the EPA estimates. But the ST struggles to achieve anything close to EPA estimates in the real world. Mileage is more like a minivan than a small sedan. They should have included better engine management (like stop/start) or even separate fuel maps for economy and Sport modes. full 2013 Ford Focus review

2016 4dr Hatch turbocharged 252hp 2.0L I4
6-speed manual FWD
Fuel economy is as expected for a fairly powerful turbo car - my own experience is that you'll better the EPA estimates with conservative driving, but only barely. If you're having fun with the boost, expect that mileage to crater accordingly. That said, the fuel tank is almost hilariously small - 12 gallons limits the Focus ST to right about 360 miles assuming the most favorable highway cruising conditions. full 2016 Ford Focus review
