What Our Members Are Saying about the Price of the the Ford Focus
| Price of the Ford Focus: Pros | ||
| Year | Body/Powertrain | Comment |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | Bought used 19k miles, good condition, $9,500 |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | $16,700 is quite a bit of money for a two-liter four sedan, but the Focus has build quality and content that justify it pretty well. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | The Focus is one of the cheapest new cars. There are others that are cheaper, but they basically come stripped of options like AC and radios. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | It gave me the payment i needed while still providing most of the things i need in a small sedan. |
| 2008 | 2dr Coupe 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | It was an affordable car even when loaded with lots of options! |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | For what it is, it is not overpriced. The payments do not stress out my budget. |
| 2008 | 2dr Coupe 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | Price was so low it was almost a concern. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | Cheaper, with better standard features, than any competitors (Yaris, Honda Fit, Hyundai Accent). |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | Got it really cheap at a year end clearance sale. |
| 2006 | 2dr Hatch 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | The Focus is a lot of car for the money compared to smaller cars that sell for similar prices. Incentives allow a sale price far below sticker. |
| 2006 | 4dr Sedan 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | Bought it new in March 25 2006.With dealer incentive paid $13,480.5/100,000 drive train warranty and 5/75 extended warranty |
| 2006 | 2dr Hatch 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | I git a brand new, Top trim level, loaded car with Power everything, 6 disc CD/Mp3, ABS, Traction control, handling package for under $13,000. |
| 2005 | 2dr Hatch 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | The car is very affordable. I bought my focus new at a very good price, and my payments are pretty low. |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | It was 2000 dollars less than the yaris, which had three times the miles... |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | $16,000 bought me a car with a ton of features (for the price), a $100,000 mile warranty, and decent gas milage. |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | The Focus is one of the cheapest cars in its class. |
| 2005 | 4dr Hatch 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | Cheap, reliable, easy in town. |
| 2004 | 2dr Hatch 130-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | It was an inexpensive car to purchase. |
| 2004 | 2dr Hatch 145-horsepower 2.3L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | Not only is the sticker price on a used or new Focus low, the parts are low too. Dramatically lower than Euro or Japanese cars. For example, a Focus 30K service is around $200-$250. A Subaru 30K service is $400-$500. |
| 2003 | 4dr Hatch 170-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD | I paid $13,400 for a car that listed for $18,995. Used Protege5s were selling for more at the time. No other car with leather, sunroof, ABS, and such could be bought for a similar price. |
| 2003 | 4dr Wagon 145-horsepower 2.3L I4 5-speed manual FWD | This was the most inexpensive wagon available at the time. Lots of value for the money. |
| 2002 | 2dr Hatch 170-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD | Under $300.00 a month |
| 2002 | 2dr Hatch 170-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD | Good value for money. Inexpensive and usually reliable. |

| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | What can I say, it's a cheap car. At the time I purchased in 2009, the car was almost three years old and still had a sale price of $13000. It's currently only worth less than half of what was paid four years later. I purchased this car because of need and very limited time to make a choice. I knew I didn't want another Nissan because of their weak engines. My sister had just bought the 08 Focus SE model a few months before and was happy with hers, so I thought this might be an okay choice. Read on. |
| 2003 | 4dr Hatch 170-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD | The Focus SVT would have cost me about $5,000 more than the Mazda Protege5. |

| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | The Elantra is about $4000-$6000 less than a comparable vehicle from Japanese car makers. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | Cash 4 clunkers got me to look. Consumer Reports rated #1. 1st looked @ Civic,Corola. Had better head room w/sunroof, best warranty, best price, Best brakes, towing capacity, interior room. I NEVER thought Elantra, EVER, Now I take it out, "just 4 a ride" |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | Best small car for the money right now. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | Same price can only get me a average or less than average featured Civic or Corolla. Toyota and Honda both refused to provided payment plan due to not enough history, Hyundai just picked me up right away. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | The Hyundai cost less money out-the-door than a Civic without air-conditioning or a corolla without anti-lock brakes. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | See above. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | Price was about $17k. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | 2008 Elantra SE seemed to offer a lot of value for money; with the features I now have, I would have paid a lot more money with a Civic, Corolla or some other option. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | I got a no haggle price. I just called the dealership, told the salesperson my price, and the cash deal(at my price) was complete in about 3 hours of my phone call. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | very cheap for what you get |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | A lot of bang for the buck! |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | Rebate allowed this car to be had, including extended warrantyu if desired, for about $1000 less than most comparable Totyate Corolla LE. Honda was no where near close ($3000 more). |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | Good price/value |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | great value compared to other vehicles. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | I was able to get a good interest rate and what seemed like a good final price from the dealer. |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | $4000-5000 less than any US or Japanese of equal options and size. |
| 2005 | 4dr Hatch 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | The price was reasonable and the interest rate was good for the time. |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | Considering all the features that came with the car, plus the cost of operating, and insuring the car, the Elantra is an economical car. |
| 2005 | 4dr Hatch 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | Great price at the time for the size of vehicle |
| 2004 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | Is/was a bargain price, great value |
| 2004 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | The price was great considering the options. |
| 2003 | 4dr Sedan 135-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | cost was less than I expected |
| 2003 | 4dr Sedan 135-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | Best bang for the buck! Car comes fully loaded at a reasonable price |
| 2003 | 4dr Sedan 135-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | Brand new it costs less than some competitors used prices. |
| 2003 | 4dr Sedan 135-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD | were affordable for the amount of car you were getting. |
| 2003 | 4dr Sedan 135-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | it was cheaper then a civic |
| 2002 | 4dr Hatch 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD | Used Elantras are quite cheap. Any car of the same year/size/class with the same features/options would cost significantly more. |

What Our Members Are Saying about Ford Focus Materials and Workmanship
| Available Features of the Ford Focus: Pros | ||
| Year | Body/Powertrain | Comment |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
The car is well built and thus far the quality has been spot on. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Fit and finish are vastly superior to previous-generation Focus (2000-2007). Interior is quiet, with Lexus-like panel fit and finish. |
| Materials and Workmanship of the Ford Focus: Cons | ||
| Year | Body/Powertrain | Comment |
| 2012 | 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Much better than the old Focus, but the plastics are still pretty cheesy in spots. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Carpet fraying. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
The quality of the materials in the Focus is definitely very cheap. A lot of hard, cheap plastic is used. |
| 2008 | 2dr Coupe 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Passenger seat rattles if the backrest is too straight and a bit of plastic around the defroster vent is warped. The steering wheel button labels are wearing off as well. |
| 2007 | 4dr Hatch 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
The workmanship and interior design is not great. Little rattles are showing up and I don't think I should be trying to silence them with my own little car-hacks. How much more could it have cost, Ford, to do this better? |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
As stated, this is a cheap car. Other than the engine block and frame, the car is built of cheap materials and it shows. A car that is only seven years old should not be falling apart on the inside! I am a single person, no kids, no family to haul around, and I take very good care of my car and keep it clean--and the seats, front armrest console, and plastics on the dash look worn out or have broken. Also, there are numerous noises that occur when the accelerator is pressed down even slightly, and the repair shop is not able to determine the cause or stop it from happening. Also, Ford kind of skimped on the safety features, so if you have a side-impact wreck, the odds are good you will have some serious injuries. I would not recommend this car for families with kids over the age of five, as there are no head restraints in the back seats. |
| 2006 | 2dr Hatch 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Very cheap and ill fitting interior materials. Trim pieces misaligned, trim over door frames coming loose, plastic flashing on almost all surfaces. Needs more sound proofing. |
| 2005 | 4dr Hatch 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
The over all cheap, rental car feeling |
| 2002 | 2dr Hatch 170-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD |
Cheap materials used in sensitive areas. |

| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
No rattles, dash looks good. Doors have a solid sound when shut. Bolts on brake calipers do not look like they will rust weld making a brake change an afternoon job (pay attention GM). |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
The quality is high overall in the interior in terms of materials used. The only exception is the beige interior. It stains way too easy, even with water! |

Body panel seams are tight and uniform. |

The paint on these things is crap. All 3 Elantras I test drove had very thin paint. One 2004 had the clearcoat peeling of all over. The other two had tons of little scratches, presumably from automatic car wash. |
