Reviewed: 2008 Ford Mustang

2dr Convertible supercharged 500hp 5.4L V8 6-speed manual RWD

Why the 2008 Ford Mustang?

Powertrain performance

An easily modifiable V-8 with 500 horsepower, 480Ft/lb of torque way down low with a manual 6 speed transmission. Acceleration is instantaneous and the sound of the supercharger at WOT is intoxicating. Easily to most entertaining car I have ever owned.

Past personal experience

My previous Mustang (88 GT) lasted 15 years (before it was stolen never to be seen again) with no major problems other than normal wear and tear, it too was exceedingly fun to drive.

Brand reputation & image

Over 40 years of continous history much of it record breaking and very colourful. It defined the early pony car and survived fuel crunchs, tightening emission standards and downsizing (mustang II) while its competitors died.

Why Not the 2008 Ford Mustang?

Fuel economy

Premium fuel is expensive and mileage with a blown 5.4 is not stellar. I would not recommend this as a daily driver but it makes a hell of weekend and evening toy.
