412-horsepower 5.0L V8 6-speed manual RWD

2000 mi 2nd gear transmission gear.
3200 mi The transmission still has a bad second gear grind when it is cold and is more prevalent as the outside temperature drops. I do not have any problems with the other gears grinding or having to skipĀ them until the transmission reaches operating temp
3000 mi whirring/clicking noise from gearbox in first and second gear.
17000 mi TSB for problems with cold shifting has been around for a while - got it done before weather got too cold where I live, not sure if I truly had the problem or not but Ford took care of it.
121000 mi

US $1036
I had an intermittent squeaking from the right rear eventually diagnosed as a bent rear axle shaft. Because of it rubbing against the rotor, the rear rotors needed replacing at the same time, driving up the cost even more.
5000 mi Rough shifting MT82 manual transmission. Known issues with owners, fluid swap TSB performed did not help issue.
2000 mi Vehicle Locks out of second gear when cold and ambient air temp is below 35degrees. Waiting on TSB, Ford is aware of the problem.
3000 mi Took the car back in for the 2nd gear lockout problem. Dealer reproduced it this time. Changed the fluid as per the TSB. Problem appears to be resolved.
17800 mi Clutch pressure plate bolts replaced under warranty due to backing out and causing clutch engagement problem.
22000 mi Whining sound from transmission and clunking when in neutral with the clutch out
23000 mi Shifter was damaged during last repair trip to dealer. Dealer replaced entire shifter assembly.
107000 mi

US $350
Right axle seal was leaking. Replaced it.
14000 mi The MT82 6 speed transmission shifted hard in the winter months, during initial warm up, especially from 1st to 2nd gear. Ford published a TSB (11-3-18) which provided a lower viscosity fluid. Transmission now shifts smoothly in all temps.
20000 mi Rear differential relief valve failed, leaked fluid all over undercarriage. Parts on order. Rear Differential relief valve was replaced with an updated version.
24000 mi Pitted bearings in the differential, removed and replaced. Vibration still in drivetrain.
24885 mi To fix remaining vibration, replaced drive shaft after contacting Ford. Dealer found two pitted bearings in the differential and replaced them. Technician still felt vibration. Contacted Ford and replaced the drive shaft. Car drives better then new.
2100 mi Clutch engagement difficult to modulate, grinding gears. Clutch assembly and flywheel replaced
3000 mi Clutch engagement: difficult to modulate. Friction modifier added to transmission fluid.
3000 mi Flywheel, clutch assembly, clutch slave cylinder, pilot bearing, and transmission replaced. Shifting improved, but clutch engagement still terrible. Shifting now very stiff and still grinds when under 50 degrees.
5000 mi Told they were unable to replicate
21080 mi TSB for clutch pedal sticking to floor performed. When required parts replaced the car would not go into gear. Dealer replaced parts again believing possible defective. No change. Pulled trans and found loose flywheel bolts. Replaced = Fixed
45880 mi Clutches in rear diff chattering while turning. New clutches installed.
4000 mi Hard shifting and grinding, especially in cold weather. TSB to replace clutch fluid seems to have done the trick, but it's warmer out too. Will see how it works next year during winter...

412-horsepower 5.0L V8 6-speed automatic RWD

4000 mi Rough downshifting when slowing to stop. Off throttle downshifting at high speeds 70mph. Dealer could not duplicate. Spoke with ford engineer and ordered "Lead Frame" for transmission. Auto trans does not down shift to first gear at stop signs, off throttle down shifts at 70mph with cruise control on
8638 mi Diag unable to verfy off throttle downshifting. Hotline advised to replace lead fram. Problem remains. But it now is consistently demonstrable. ...Diag unable to verfy off throttle downshifting. Hotline advised to replace lead fram. Problem remains. But it now is consistantly demonstatable

2011 Ford Mustang 2dr Coupe

305-horsepower 3.7L V6 6-speed manual RWD

2000 mi Hard to shift into 1st gear. 2nd is very clunky and shifts rough randomly and sometimes completely locks out. Some occasional banging noise when shifting into 2nd. Supposedly TSB forthcoming re: pressure plate bolts not fully seated.
3000 mi Pressure plate and flywheel replaced. New shorter bolts used to prevent pressure plate from coming loose.
29700 mi Rear axle vent tube was leaking fluid
33000 mi Gear whine in 1st 2nd and 3rd. Rough shifting into 2nd.
162000 mi

US $1245
Dual mass flywheel spring failure resulted in drive trane vibration felt/heard between 2200rpm's and 3100rpm's. Clutch/flywheel replaced with Ram Force 9.5 dual disc clutch (aftermarket upgrade)

2011 Ford Mustang 2dr Coupe

305-horsepower 3.7L V6 6-speed automatic RWD

147000 mi

US $750
Transmission started to slip. Was able to purchase a 2014 transmission with less than 15,000 miles for less that $400 from a "big box" recycler and it cost $350 for transmission fluid and installation.
61400 mi

US $870
Took car in to have the transmission fluid flushed and less than 50 miles later the car would not shift. Was told that a shift rail inside the transmission was broken and awiring harness known as the pass-through was leaking. Fishy
70000 mi Vehicle suffered from a 2-3 second hesitation when accelerating form a slow roll. Dealer resolved issue with PCM reflash. Issue caused by adaptive-learning strategy, reflash narrowed parameters to improve driveability.
12000 mi While driving on expressway, loud noise and scraping from under the car. Towed to dealership, found to be rear end scraping leaving a lot of metal scraps on the magnetic fluid plug.
40000 mi

US $100
Leaking ATF. They dropped the pan and replaced seals, but found that the leak was coming from the bell area. This required them to pull the trans and replace some seals internally. (Not sure what exactly.) Clunk/squeak from rear. Dealer thought it sounded like sway bar bushings, but once it was on the lift they found that there was a problem with the rear axle mounts. Fixed.

Driveshaft loose at transmission. Replace driveshaft.
6594 mi Rough Shifting 1st to 2nd gear. Replaced transmission fluid with different type.
17360 mi MT82 Manual Transmission - Poor shifting characteristics and intermittent lockout shifting to second gear.
18600 mi Sold car because often had trouble shifting into 2nd and going from 6th to 5th, among other flakiness. Ruined driving enjoyment and potentially unsafe. Ford claimed it was normal. Very disappointed in how they handled the issue, won't be buying another.
100000 mi

US $130
Diagnose bad vibration on decel that gradually increased since 21000 mi.Car has 95% hwy miles usage. Dealership says it is the flywheel counter bal weights sticking due to age/clutch dust build up. Fix is $2500 clutch+flywh+labor= Not done
