As I pulled out of a business driveway onto urban state highway, halfway around the turn, sudden and unexpected loud 'bang' and car slammed into a sudden stop with loud grinding sound. I limped it to the first safe place to pull in and called for road service. Trucked it to the place I bought it and that does my routine maintenance. Turned out to be problem caused by extreme rusting of driver's side brake/wheel. A large piece of rust had broken loose and jammed the brake, scored the rotor severely. No problem since it was taken apart, cleaned, replaced the damaged part.
29760 mi At 42k km rear brakes inspected and deemed fine. At 47k km rear calipers and rotors needed to be replaced. Less than 700 km afterwards the new right rear caliper failed and had to be replaced again.
