Timing chain cover and seal were leaking, had it fixed.
73000 mi VTC Actuator Noise during cold start up.
116000 mi

US $1600
Started throwing a code indicating the timing was out of spec. "DTC P0341: CMP Sensor A and CKP Sensor Incorrect Phase Detected" The blanket fix is to replace the VTC oil control solenoid, VTC actuator, cam chain and auto tensioner. I've always changed the oil on time with synthetic, including the filter everytime. I believe this defect is indicative of a larger quality issue in these engines. There is a TSB related to this even though it wasn't possible to prove it was the cause. A timing chain should not need to be replaced at the same frequency of a timing BELT.
85700 mi

US $26
Engine maintenance light on dash came on. Manual says it may be fuel cap. So today I bought a new cap. Time will tell if it fixed it.
96000 mi

US $500
CEL due to emission hose with a very small wear point. Honda wouldn't cover it so went to an independent. They dropped the tank, cut the hose, put in a double barb fitting and buttoned it up. Dealer cost (hose only sold with tank) would have been $1,200.
19700 mi Fuel cap needed replacing, tripping the system warning light.
75000 mi

US $50
VTEC actuator replacement with new design part. Had cold start rattle for about a year and a half. Honda paid for 90% of repair even with car out of power train warranty.

2011 Honda Accord 4dr Sedan

177-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD

22000 mi At 15% oil life,at cold start,I'd hear a flapping noise, like the noise of a card flapping against the blades of a house fan. Diagnosed as a sagging timing chain that became taunt, once oil pressure increased. At 100% oil life, sound vanished.
36000 mi Not getting proper MPG. Dealer tested and claimed it was getting the average. Check fuel cap warning comes on and off, dealer can't diagnose or fix. Completely disappointed with this vehicle and Honda service.
42000 mi Check Fuel Cap message keeps popping up. Dealer did an evap test BEFORE looking for a TSB. There is a TSB that should remedy the problem but the part had to be ordered.
