Honda Accord Reliability and Durability: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2013 4dr Sedan 278-horsepower 3.5L V6
6-speed automatic FWD
It's been fairly reliable. I have put nearly 80,000 miles and so far I have only had to deal with brakes.
2012 2dr Coupe 271-horsepower 3.5L V6
6-speed manual FWD
Our past Hondas have been the most reliable cars we've owned. I would expect the Accord Coupe to be much more reliable long-term than the Volkswagen.
2011 4dr Sedan 177-horsepower 2.4L I4
5-speed automatic FWD
Now approaching 140,000 miles and other than 2 sets of tires, only cost has been maintenance as called for by Miantenance Minder. I drove an 2008 Accord to 150,000 and passed on to a family member with similar experience (although brakes had been replaced).
2010 4dr Sedan 271-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic FWD
Wife had an Accord from 2000 and very little ever went wrong with it until it dropped the transmission July 2009. No brainer to get another one to serve as the every-day family car.
2010 4dr Sedan 177-horsepower 2.4L I4
5-speed manual FWD
After owning and repairing many European cars, it is comforting to know that the Accord is much more likely than not to have extraordinary reliability and durability. It is a calming feeling.
2010 4dr Sedan 271-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic FWD
I drove each of my Accords for more than 14 years with no major repairs.
2010 2dr Coupe 271-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic FWD
Reputation....Still new I have no personal experience
2009 4dr Sedan 177-horsepower 2.4L I4
5-speed automatic FWD
same as above
2009 4dr Sedan 271-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic FWD
2009 4dr Sedan 190-horsepower 2.4L I4
5-speed manual FWD
Historical experience. The parts that matter most to drivability will last - in my experience an Accords drivetrain will remain functional while the body rusts away.

2008 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6
5-speed automatic FWD
window and trunk rattles
2006 2dr Coupe 244-horsepower 3.0L V6
5-speed automatic FWD
This car has been at the dealer almost once every couple of months, it feels like the car is just falling apart in my hands. Just the other day the power window controls fell out of the door. The transmission sometimes refuses to go into gear from Park
2006 4dr Sedan 166-horsepower 2.4L I4
5-speed automatic FWD
My issue with the accord is at 38,000 miles I was told I had a broken motor mount. I am not sure why or how a broken motor mount would occur in under 3 years of ownership. I found that annoying because the car was maintained and not beaten on and this happens. Nothing better than coughing up $700.00 just before your child is born.
2006 4dr Sedan 166-horsepower 2.4L I4
5-speed automatic FWD
Another issue I had was around 60,000 miles, I had to replace the power steering pump. I heard this whine sound from under my hood and next thing I know, I am coughing up another $500 to replace the pump. I had all the fluids changed when recommended and this still happened. Between the motor mount and power steering pump, I have spent $1300 more on this accord than I did on my 99 Camry.
2005 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.4L I4
5-speed automatic FWD
Long ago, someone warned me of Honda batteries being way too small. And what do you know, I did end up putting five batteries into our Accord over ten years. One of them, the alernator fried it. Another one just puked flat dead. Three others developed bad cells, always in hot weather. We live in high desert, we expect somewhat shorter battery life, but a battery every two years is too much. We've just bought a new Civic; this time I'll just plan on swapping batteries about every 24 months.
2003 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.4L I4
5-speed automatic FWD
cold start valve or cylinder slap after 53K miles
2002 2dr Coupe 200-horsepower 3.0L V6
4-speed automatic FWD
I bought the car so I could drive it, change the oil, and keep driving it. But from faulty fog lights, worn radio controls, two transmissions, two alternators, and numerous rattles, I have not reached my goal of maintenance-free driving and quality.

2011 4dr Sedan 169-horsepower 2.5L I4

Bullet proof reputation and easy access to dealer if there is an issue. Have never had a problem with a Toyota vehicle.
2011 4dr Sedan 169-horsepower 2.5L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
My experience with this car has been great across all categories with the exception of a few minor cosmetic repairs. A little better MPG would be nice though.
2009 4dr Sedan 187-horsepower 2.4L I4 Hybrid
CVT FWD
Camry has a good reliability record.
2009 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
owned a 1997 for 325,000 kms never a problem, 10litres/100km from day 1 to day I sold it.
2009 4dr Sedan 158-horsepower 2.4L I4
5-speed automatic FWD
Has a great reputation for reliability and durability...just keeps on going.
2009 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
This Camry has proven very reliable with no unscheduled repair issues in the first 80,000 miles. There were three Toyota recalls but no issues were apparent due to them.
2008 4dr Sedan 187-horsepower 2.4L I4 Hybrid
CVT FWD
So far so good. I have not had any problems whatsoever.
2008 4dr Sedan 268-horsepower 3.5L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
So far just oil changes and other regular maintenance visits to the shop at 60,000 miles. Other than the smell from airvents that was fixed with lysol.
2008 4dr Sedan 187-horsepower 2.4L I4 Hybrid
CVT FWD
17K miles not a single issue.
2008 4dr Sedan 187-horsepower 2.4L I4 Hybrid

Reputation for quality instills confidence. Have not had the car back in the repair shop in 10,000 miles. Do minor maintenance myself.

Know it would last , Leary of buying the VW
2011 4dr Sedan 169-horsepower 2.5L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
No cons!
2002 4dr Sedan 157-horsepower 2.4L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Cheap and weak parts. At 110,000 miles I have replaced the radiator and alternator neither of which are wear and tear parts that should be needing replacement so soon. In addition the front end of the suspension makes a clunking noise over bumps.
