Best Reason to Buy the Honda CR-V: Safety & braking
Brakes extremely well. No pedal sponginess. Stops quickly, in a straight line with no drama.

Best Reason Not to Buy the Honda CR-V: Front seat support & comfort
Seats need another couple of inches of depth to provide anyone over six feet tall with proper thigh support. A little on the firm side after a couple of hours. Could also be improved with better lateral support. Not a deal breaker unless you expect a Volvo type lounger.

Other Reasons to Buy the Honda CR-V: Interior styling, Fuel economy, Powertrain performance

Best Reason to Buy the Honda CR-V: Driving position & visibility
Comfortable upright position and very small blind spots. All controls are easy to access thru the full range of seat positions for the driver.

Best Reason Not to Buy the Honda CR-V: Ride smoothness
Road imperfections are transmitted to the passengers so that riding on poor pavement is more tiring than it should be. Other tires may improve the smoothness slightly. This car has all season radials.

Other Reasons to Buy the Honda CR-V: Powertrain performance, Reliability & durability, Cargo capacity, Rear seat room & comfort

Other Reasons Not to Buy the Honda CR-V: Quietness, Warranty, maintenance cost

what a insult to the world's #1 car maker!!

Best Reason to Buy the Honda CR-V: Exterior styling
Rugged looking, offroad capability

Best Reason Not to Buy the Honda CR-V: Powertrain performance
Bought this car from a "large and reputable" Jim Pattison Toyota dealership in May with good faith and confidence, looking forward to years of adventures and enjoyment. Odometer showing 141000 when I picked it up, supposed to be low for a Toyota.

But.........transmission simply gave up on my 31st day of ownership, after 2200 kilometer of highway driving and less than 50km of not-so-rough dirt road. It lived in the shop for 3 weeks and I just got it back yesterday with a rebuilt transmission and new torque converter.

Global Warranty is supposed to pay the repair bill but the shop manager is still struggling with them on the payment issue.

Here is my advice: If you are thinking about buying any Toyota, buy it with model year earlier than 2000 and make sure its built in Japan.

Best Reason to Buy the Honda CR-V: Powertrain performance
Provides all the power that you need, but at times you have to step on it, and the automatic transmission has some delay before it downshifts. Semi-automatic transmission would help, but the D3 button does the job on the freeway, immediately disengaging the overdrives when you want to pass someone quickly. Transmission shifts smoothly, even better so when in ECO mode at low speeds, though ECO mode does seem to rob power and requires harder accelerator input when accelerating.

Best Reason Not to Buy the Honda CR-V: Ride smoothness
At times feels bouncy and jittery over bumps.

Best Reason to Buy the Honda CR-V: Fuel economy
Had two months and drove 2950 miles. We averaged 29.9 mpg with about 70% being highway miles. Local miles are about 27mpg with between 30-34 on the highways at 70mph. These are actual miles via filling up although the onboard computer is very close

Best Reason Not to Buy the Honda CR-V: Feature availability
(didn't know where to place this). The only problem with the CRV are the tires if one lives in snowbelt states. The original tires are horrible in winters with ice and snow and need to be changed.

Underwhelming soccer mom engine. Felt like it should be in a civic, not an 3500lb SUV.
