| Honda Civic Fuel Economy: Pros | ||
| Year | Body/Powertrain | Comment |
| 2011 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
36 MPG on highway |
| 2010 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
I consistently get between 7 and 7.5L per 100 km which is about 32.5 MPG(US). I also own a Toyota Tundra, so the savings on fuel almost pay for the civic itself. |
| 2010 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Very good. Get a true 36 mpg on interstate doing a sustained 75 mph. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 110-horsepower 1.3L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD |
Getting around 40 MPG combined 60/40 Hwy/City; more if I go easy on the gas pedal. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Superb fuel economy. The Civic gets 1.5 liter mileage on the highway (40+ with AC in my experience) and excellent mileage in the city (30+ MPG). It does this without the anemic hybrid performance or the inconveniences of a diesel engine. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 197-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD |
The Si still gets rather good fuel economy, even with a much beefier motor than the other models. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 110-horsepower 1.3L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD |
It ranks just below the Prius for MPG. My son who bought a 2008 Civic Hybrid says he is getting better than rated MPG. I am trading in a 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid because the city MPG is not anywhere near what I was led to believe. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Its a civic. No matter how hard I drove it 32mpg easy. Average driving saw 35-37 depending. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Class leading with the manual transmission. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
30mpg+ in town and 35-42mpg on hwy. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 110-horsepower 1.3L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD |
Excellent, best in class. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
while I believe it to be rated 34 highway, I typically get 38-40. |
| 2008 | 2dr Coupe 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Consistently returns 30 to 40 mpg with performance tires on a high traffic / high speed commute. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Excellent economy(for a non-hybrid vehicle) at the same time that the car has very good performance specs. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 110-horsepower 1.3L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD |
Highway mileage of 40 mpg + at 75-80 |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
excellent for our driving, powerful also |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
pretty good highway mileage. |
| 2008 | 4dr Sedan 110-horsepower 1.3L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD |
Driving the speed limit in mixed city suburban driving it is a gaurenteed 43 mpg. The feel and drivability are special given the torque addition of the electric assist motor. The car experience encourages a more intelligent driver. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 197-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD |
Frugal when driven lazily. Pep without forced induction means I get gas half as often as my best friend and his WRX. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 110-horsepower 1.3L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD |
The Civic Hybrid 2007 is running 6.2 litres per hundred kilometres which is combined summer/winter, city/highway over about 15,000 kilometres. Need I say more? |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 197-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD |
30+ MPG on highway for SI performance. Combined with spirited driving exceeds 24MPG |
| 2007 | 2dr Coupe 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Some of the best gas mileage out there. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Around town on hilly country roads car gets between 29 and 31 mpg. On the highway with cruise control set @ 70mph car got 39 mpg!! It went to 37mpg when we turned the A/C on. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
I drive 38 miles one way to work. Even with the A/C running or the windows/sun roof open, I average 37.4 MPG. My best has been 39.4, but I slowed down to 75 to get that. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Good fuel economy |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
I get 40 mpg highway and 30+ mpg in twon. |
| 2007 | 2dr Coupe 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
36 mpg on the highway, 32 mpg for my city drives. |
| 2007 | 2dr Coupe 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Consistant 30 mpg city and 40mpg highway. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
I averaged 32mpg for the duration of my ownership (56000 miles). I saw tanks of 37+ for highway heavy trips. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
36-38 mpg in mixed driving on regular. |
| 2007 | 2dr Coupe 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Averages over 30MPG |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Fantastic on long drives. I almost drive the entine 401 in Ontario on a tank of gas. |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 197-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD |
For the level of performance the Si offers, the mileage one can acheive is superb. I average a bit under 30mpg, and have seen as high as 36 on slow highway trips. Not as good as a Corolla, but a hell of a lot faster and more fun! |
| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 197-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD |
For its level of performance, the Si produces very good mileage. Even when absolutely flogging the car, I still get 23-25mpg, and under normal circumstances, I see 26-32 |
| 2006 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Great mileage, though not as great as I had expected. But then again, this is no Hybrid. |
| 2006 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
It is a reasonably sized car with a very good fuel efficiency and good response of the powertrain. |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 115-horsepower 1.7L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
93 DX - 48mpg hwy. 05 LX - 40mpg hwy |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 115-horsepower 1.7L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
The tiny engine in the Civic gets amazing fuel economy! |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 115-horsepower 1.7L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
I have gotten as high as 35 MPG, but 27-30 is the normal range. |
| 2005 | 4dr Sedan 115-horsepower 1.7L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Although not nearly as good as my 93, I still average 40mpg+ hwy, and perhaps 35mpg local. This was among the best available in the 2005 MY, and not bad for a mid size sedan. |
| 2004 | 4dr Sedan 93-horsepower 1.3L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD |
Hybrid gives *great* economy - 45 mpg is normal. Except for the bad transmission, this little car runs like the proverbial Swiss watch. |
| 2004 | 2dr Coupe 127-horsepower 1.7L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
The civic has excellent fuel economy. When gas got over 3 dollars a gallon I was feeling it a lot less than all those peopel who bought gas guzzlers! |
| 2004 | 4dr Sedan 93-horsepower 1.3L I4 Hybrid 5-speed manual FWD |
40 mpg |
| 2004 | 2dr Coupe 127-horsepower 1.7L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Gas mileage at between 34 and 38 mpg is really good but since the car is also a lot of fun to drive the fuel economy is terrific! |
| 2003 | 4dr Sedan 93-horsepower 1.3L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD |
Attention to driving practice yields up to 60 mpg on the freeway That is by using cruise control and staying at or under 55 mph |
| 2003 | 4dr Sedan 93-horsepower 1.3L I4 Hybrid 5-speed manual FWD |
Getting about 48 mpg on premium driving a bit too fast. |
| 2003 | 4dr Sedan 115-horsepower 1.7L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
Fuel Economy is good for a car with automatic transmission. 26 mpg city, and up to 40 mpg freeway . I've gotten as much as 45 mpg on a 55mph speed limit hwy. |
| 2003 | 2dr Coupe 127-horsepower 1.7L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
What Honda claims for fuel economy is true. To date is has been the best car on gas that anyone in my family has owned. |
| 2003 | 2dr Hatch 160-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
We get 28-29mpg on regular with 80% 75-80mph, and 20% stop & go. |
| 2003 | 4dr Sedan 93-horsepower 1.3L I4 Hybrid 5-speed manual FWD |
I can get in the high 40s on the interstate, usually mid-30s in town |
| 2002 | 4dr Sedan 127-horsepower 1.7L I4 5-speed manual FWD |

| 2002 | 4dr Sedan 127-horsepower 1.7L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
best in class, better than average overall |

| 2007 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
The engine continues to run when I stop at a stop street, red light or in traffic. That is a sin. There is no excuse to continue running any engine if the car is not moving. |
| 2007 | 2dr Coupe 197-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD |
Takes premium fuel. To really get going, you need to rev the engine high... uses gas to do so. |
| 2006 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Advertised as 50 MPG/Gal (Imp) best we ever got was 42 MPG, I asked when we got the car new what the "real" gas milage was and salesman swore it would get 50 MPG?!?! |
| 2006 | 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
EPA was 50 MPG (IMP Gal) i have never done better than 41.3 MPG. |
| 2006 | 4dr Sedan 110-horsepower 1.3L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD |
Poorer than the Prius. |
| 2004 | 4dr Sedan 93-horsepower 1.3L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD |
With the things it gave up to the Prius (cargo utility, rear space), it should surpass the Prius in mileage but actually came up short (as did the Insight). |
| 2003 | 4dr Sedan 115-horsepower 1.7L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
We only get about 30 mpg compared with 42 mpg in our 2008 Prius. |
