Honda Fit Fuel Economy: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2013 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
driven normally, fuel economy better than EPA results. (But drops fairly quickly when trying to merge or accelerate along with normal flow of traffic)
2012 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Owned less than a week but drive home after purchase was 60 miles and indications are the true mileage will exceed the EPA numbers as it shows 36mpg for half city and half congested freeway travel
2011 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
30 MPG in brutal, city driving; 40+ MPG on the highway. The fuel economy is better than I expected.
2011 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
Regularly get 32-36 in town, have gotten 40 on the highway.
2011 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
30+ MPG even with a lot on stop and go. I got the 5 speed which actually may lower my MPG but I love the ability to punch it when I need to! Wish it had a 6th gear for 70 mph+ I want to see if I can hit 40-45 MPG going on I-10 doing 60-65 the whole way
2011 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed automatic FWD
30 miles per gallon on average in mostly city driving averaging 30 miles per hour or less/stop&go.
2010 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Rated around 30 mpg, but can get up to about 40.
2010 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
33 to 35 mpg highway (but small fuel tank)
2010 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
From the start, the Fit has much greater fuel economy than the PT Cruiser. This is the kind of economy the PT Cruiser should have had. Roughly 34 MPG during the first 200 miles.
2010 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
38MPG average in my driving community

2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
The meter says I am getting 39MPG+. I firugre I am getting ~35 - 36 MPG but will not know until I fill up.
2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
I enjoy getting an average of 38 MPG whenever I drive the car.
2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
In the Fit our family has found a vehicle that five fit in comfortably, we can haul everything, and we still get great millage, no suv we found did what the fit does at 33 mpg.
2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
The Fit gets great gas mileage on the highway.
2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
I love the fuel economy. Generally it averages 35 mpg in mixed-driving. It is so nice to be able to go an entire week on a single tank instead of needing to fill up 2+ times a week.
2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
I drive my Fit during the work week mainly on the freeway. I appreciate the great fuel economy of 30+ miles per gallon.
2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
Day in, day out, and even in winter, it will get at least 30 mpg (imperial)
2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
For non-hybrid, gets consistently high mileage if driven carefully.
2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed automatic FWD
Fuel economy is absolutely amazing. I am averaging 30+mpg in the city with "spirited" driving practices and well over 40mpg when commuting.
2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed automatic FWD
Very good fuel economy, even better in real life (versus EPA estimates). Surprisingly spacious inside.
2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
I love the FE so far. Only have 650 miles but acheived 43.89 mpg on first full tank with manual calc. So far on this tank, at about same level. 5M helps tremendously. Shift @ 2k on flat surfaces and not over 60 on hwy. I baby it and it treats me well!
2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
slightly less than yaris and better than Xd.
2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
The best EVER! Consistently getting 32-36 in city.
2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
What is there not to like. It will go forever on ten dollars!
2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Salesman said that he has customers who get 40+ MPG on the Fit, also the current MPG display is always on so you see how you are doing.
2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
The fuel economy in this car is great. Only about 15% of my driving is on the highway, and in New England winter I'm still getting about 30mpg, and I don't consider myself to be a very economical driver.
2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Not a hybid but appears to be able to top 40 mpg with careful driving.
2008 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
Consistent 35 MPG combined fuel economy.
2008 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
Even driven hard, it gets good mileage. The Yaris can put up better numbers, but on a "stuff I can carry versus miles per gallon" basis, the Fit wins
2008 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Over 30 mpg, which is good for such a peppy little engine.
2008 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
Get as high as 52 mpg on the highway, even at 70+ speeds
2008 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
Driven aggressively it still returns over 30 mpg. Driven conservatively it will deliver 37-38 mpg on the highway.
2008 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
It crazy that I can drive at 60 mph, almost 80 miles a day and consistantly get over 40mpg with a personal best of 53mpg!!
2008 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed automatic FWD
It is rated at something like 28/34. I have burned about 10 tanks, including a cross-country trip, and have gotten from 31 to 42, mostly toward the higher end of that range.
2008 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
33 mpg on first tank. Expect it to go up as engine break-in period passes
2008 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
I only looked at cars that get more than 30 mpg. My Fit has average 35 mpg in the first months of ownership.
2008 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
Impressive. Average 35mpg, all city miles, normal driving

5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
It consistently gets 30+ mpg.
2008 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
Even a short commute can exceed the EPA city estimates of 28mpg, and 40mpg on the highway is easily achievable. The Fit responds well to hypermile techniques.
2008 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
I reliably get < 6.0 L/100km on the highway all the time and < 7.5 in the city.
2007 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
I have a lead foot, and I average 31 m.p.g in mixed driving.
2007 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
We drove the car back to NC from Boston when the car was 3 years old. The trip took a day and a half, and we got better than 40 mpg for large portions of the trip, doing 75 mph on the interstates.
2007 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed manual FWD
With the AC off I can average around 33 MPG. With it on, which is necessary in Austin for 9 months out of the year, I still average around 30.
2007 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed automatic FWD
Good, not spectacular, economy.
2007 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4

2007 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4

It is high
2007 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4

Near top of class. In my experience (MT), meets or beats EPA estimates.
2007 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4

Driving from Tampa to Tallahassee on just over 7 gallons of gas is very, very nice.

2010 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Although we got 38 mpg over the course of our 32,000 miles, we actually got better mileage with our previous 07 Civic over its lifetime and powertrain performance was much better for the Civic. Overall dissapointed with mileage.
2010 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4

Loses out slightly to the Fiesta in fuel economy.
2009 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4

I rented the car for a weekend & my gas mileage from Phoenix, to Flagstaff & back to Phoenix was only 28.8 mpg This car had an automatic tranny. Engine rmp always sounded BUSY & noisey
