| Price of the Honda Fit: Pros | ||
| Year | Body/Powertrain | Comment |
| 2011 | 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed manual FWD | 15,100 as a starting point for a 5 speed base which now comes with cruise!!! Why spend extra for the sport all you get is a spoiler, fog lights and alloy rims (1700.00 more ) Plus I got .90% financing. Thank you Honda!!! |
| 2010 | 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed manual FWD | Fair price for a Honda |
| 2009 | 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed manual FWD | The payments are affordable and Honda Finance is easy to access for online payments. |
| 2009 | 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed shiftable automatic FWD | It was under 20k, but more expensive than the similar models from other manufacturers. |
| 2008 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed manual FWD | Paid MSRP for base fit, used honda finance, with low down payment my monthly payments are $240 (60 months). Not bad for a new car. |
| 2008 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed manual FWD | I only considered cars that would cost $20,000 or less, including tax and fees. My Fit was less than $17,000. |
| 2008 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed manual FWD | I only consider cars that I could purchase for $20,000 or less, including tax and fees. My Fit was under $17,000, including tax and fees. |
| 2008 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed manual FWD | cheap for a new car. My payments are only $250 a month. |
| 2007 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed manual FWD | This car was a great value for the money. We could have paid less for a similar hatchback, but I don't feel we would have gotten the safety or reliability of the Fit. |
| 2007 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed shiftable automatic FWD | Much lower total price than H.Civic or Accord EX. |
| 2007 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed automatic FWD | It was a reasonable price and the dealer gave a low interest rate on payments. |
| 2007 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed shiftable automatic FWD | We felt that we got a lot of features for the cost and are very happy with the price we paid. |
| 2007 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed manual FWD | Cheaper than other cars with comparable cargo capacity. |
| Price of the Honda Fit: Cons | ||
| Year | Body/Powertrain | Comment |
| 2013 | 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed shiftable automatic FWD | Honda seems to be relying very much on its brand image to justify the high price for this car. The older design felt premium if austere on the inside. This newer iteration feels gimicky but has a slightly higher feature level. But the fit and finish is fair and totally unbecoming of a Honda. Base level models have poor seat fabrics. And the car (any version) feels tinny and flimsy overall for the money being paid. This car should cost $13000 to $ 15000 max. Buying a fit over $15K seem to be counter-intuitive as there are a lot of cars out there that offer much better value for the money. |
| 2008 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed automatic FWD | Base price was less than the Scion xD but by the time the extra packages were added it was more. |
| 2008 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed manual FWD | More expensive than the xB for less standard features and room. |
| 2007 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed automatic FWD | Hard to find inexpensive and used. |
| 2007 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed automatic FWD | Price was very high as compared to the Yaris when I test drove it. The low end model was not available at the time. |
What Our Members Are Saying about the Price of the the Toyota Prius
| Price of the Toyota Prius: Pros | ||
| Year | Body/Powertrain | Comment |
| 2010 | 4dr Hatch 98-horsepower 1.8L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | The prius is not very expensive compared to other hybrids, in fuel or maintenance costs. |
| 2010 | 4dr Hatch 98-horsepower 1.8L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | Cheaper than the Mini |
| 2010 | 4dr Hatch 98-horsepower 1.8L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | Price was a good value |
| 2008 | 4dr Hatch 76-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | It was a previously owned vehicle that was offered at a very good price |
| 2008 | 4dr Hatch 76-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | I felt that the cost was reasonable given the technology. In addition, there was a total of $4000 in government tax rebates that lessened the cost of ownership a great deal. |
| 2008 | 4dr Hatch 76-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | $25k out the door price. |
| 2006 | 4dr Hatch 76-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | We have a private loan and we are paying if off as fast as we can. |
| 2005 | 4dr Hatch 76-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | I bought the car used. Excellent deal. |
| Price of the Toyota Prius: Cons | ||
| Year | Body/Powertrain | Comment |
| 2010 | 4dr Sedan 98-horsepower 1.8L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | Getting any hybrid new in 2010 for 21k was not a bad deal, but Toyota broke out the Prius into several different models, and for 21k you get a pat on the back and the little paper in the floorboard. |
| 2010 | 4dr Hatch 98-horsepower 1.8L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | Several thousand more than the Insight. |
| 2010 | 4dr Hatch 98-horsepower 1.8L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | Even the low end Prius was a few thousand more than the mid-range Insight EX. |
| 2010 | 4dr Hatch 98-horsepower 1.8L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | Price is too high in this uncertain economic time. Plus I tend to keep cars 10 to 12 years. I do not want to be faced with the cost of replacing the batteries (well over $1,500) eight to ten years from now. |
| 2008 | 4dr Hatch 76-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | Payments were 382 per month for 7 years, car not really worth it. |
| 2008 | 4dr Hatch 76-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | There is the "hybrid premium" you pay because of the new technology, but the Prius is neither a small car not a cheap car. It is larger than a Camry inside and it is well built with tons of features not found on cars such as the Yaris, Corolla, Elantra... |
| 2008 | 4dr Hatch 76-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | Far too expensive for what you get. |
| 2007 | 4dr Hatch 76-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | Its expensive, compared to other models of about the same size. It will take several years before the fuel economy pays that back. |
| 2006 | 4dr Hatch 76-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | Was a great bargain when tax credits could defray expense (I got both federal and state credits!) |
| 2005 | 4dr Hatch 76-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | The car is pricy for mid size car |
| 2004 | 4dr Hatch 76-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | It can be pricier than similar cars of the same model year. |
| 2004 | 4dr Hatch 76-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | In Canada, there is definitely a price premium for the Prius - which is unfortunate, since it is a great car. |
| 2003 | 4dr Sedan 70-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD | It is an expensive car, and I am hoping to drive it for 10+ years to make that investment worth it. I am a person who would more likely buy a used car rather than something new off the lot. I just got swept away by the "green" aspect of owning a Prius. |

| 2012 | 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Main touchpoints are solid. Nothing has a rough edge. Even less common touchpoints are at least pleasant in texture. Hardly a squeak or rattle, doesn't flex over wacky surfaces. Fit and finish is overall very good. Panel gaps are tight and even. |
| 2009 | 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
The car is put together solidly, with few rattles and squeaks. |
| 2009 | 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
The interior materials are high quality and do not feel cheap. The transmissions shift lever pops into gear very smoothly and the steering wheel feels very positive in the hands. |
| 2009 | 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Even the cheap plastic looks good. They know how to build a car that looks good and wears well without charging a ton. |
| 2008 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
There is a lot of attention to detail and evidence of sound engineering throughout the car. Engine compartment is neatly organized. Material quality is excellent for a car at this price. No glaring evidence of cost cutting anywhere, amazing for a $15k car |
| 2008 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
All of the hard plastic trim parts fit very well. No rattles or squeaks noted in daily driving over a variety of street surfaces. Ergonomics and dash/control design is very good and visually appealing. |
| 2007 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
typical Honda quality does not feel "cheap" |

| 2010 | 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Compared to the Fiesta there is less attention to details. Fit lacks padded door armrest. Controls are more cluttered up. |
| 2009 | 4dr Hatch 117-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
The car seemed to be made out of very low-grade material. The seat covers, the body panels, the carpeting. You could hear the radio outside of the car even with doors/windows shut tight. The seatcovers never could stay lint/hair free. |
| 2008 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Very Plastic |
| 2007 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Cheap - plastic and floor mats slide around. Vent tabs not working and seat material looks like it will wear easily. |
| 2007 | 4dr Hatch 109-horsepower 1.5L I4 5-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Cheap carpet used in the rear and on the seat backs. Cheaper carpet used for the floor mats. |

Top notch quality from a Toyota product. I've bought many Toyotas over the years and this takes a back seat to none in quality. I have very little to complain about with this car. |
| 2008 | 4dr Hatch 76-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD |
Near-Camry fit and finish, with lots of electronic gizmos to entertain the passenger. Only omission are power seats. The leather seats are definitely more comfortable than the standard seats, glad I paid the bit extra for them, much nicer on a long dri |

| 2007 | 4dr Hatch 76-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid CVT FWD |
The Prius is put together with great skill. Example--the little plastic bits that hold the dashboard together are coated in a silicone-like substance to prevent rattles. Attention to detail. |
