Broken A/C line running UNDER the car to cool the third row of seats! The mechanic said that the hole in pipe looked like it could have been made by rock bouncing up. No way to cap off and not use, no way to repair w/o 7 hours of labor - dealer said. $1,100 estimate.

7000 mi Nav screen randomly goes crazy - only way to reset is to turn off vehicle and restart. Honda TSB 11-022 covers replacing the screen, although despite me asking, the dealer did not have the part in stock and has to special order. Replace photo sensor Dealer said our vehicle needed TSB 11-073 applied to it - reflash battery sensor software.
42300 mi Replaced nav screen under TSB 11-022. No problems subsequently.
20700 mi Bluetooth connection for iPhone4 does not work sporadically. Dealer stated no recalls and other Hondas have issues w/ iPhone4 but not other iPhone models. The iPhone4 has no issues with many other vehicle bluetooths. Design deficiency.

The key blade fixed to the body of the remote broke off; repair requires new key body. Asked dealer to replace key under Honda TSB 13-100, as key broke exactly as detailed in TSB, using HondaCare extended warranty. HondaCare denied claim, saying the key was "mechanical failure", not electrical, which would have been covered by warranty. Despite the fact that the TSB specifically describes the failure as an engineering defect and the HondaCare terms do not exclude the key (the HondaCare rep asserted that "keys have never been covered under this warranty"). Honda customer service declined to cover the repair too. After arguing with HondaCare again about the specific terms in the warranty agreement, HondaCare covered most of the cost of the repair.
88000 mi

US $300
Alternator starting whining loudly. Within two short trips, battery charge light came on. Local shop would not source Denso (Honda OEM) and dealer wanted over $1000 for the replacement. Bought a Denso factory rebuild alt directly (not listed in rockauto catalog but is if you search the model number itself). Youtube to the rescue, did it myself in the driveway. Pretty tight to do it from above but doable.
12300 mi update to software to eliminate "low battery" message.
3000 mi Headlights malfunctioning intermittently. Progressively getting worse. Technician could not duplicate problem. Will be bringing vehicle back in for follow up.

17000 mi Battery Management Software update - vehicle incorrectly reported low battery. Rare occurrence, applied TSB as preventive maintenance in case of future problems.
25000 mi Again, returned to the shop to report the tailgate motor not closing the tailgate. Dealer could not duplicate, so no repair attempted. Asked to look at it again since it happens often. Said nothing they could do unless they witness it.
26800 mi The rear power hatch still not automatically close 100% of the time. Dealer can't reproduce and won't look at the videos I showed them. Says they have to witness it in person. No attempt to repair if they don't see it malfunction.
28000 mi Power liftgate still intermittently working. After five trips to the dealer without a fix, complained to American Honda Motor Co. and dealer management. Dealer replaced liftgate motor 74961-TK8-305 under warranty.

The front passenger seat heating element(?) stopped working about a year ago in our Honda Odyssey and I finally had it looked at. We were quoted about $350 for it to be repaired. Based on the price, we decided not to repair it. I also had the front reading light replaced. It was more than 10 minutes. It must have more than just the light bulb.

24800 mi tail gate lift motor loose, hesitates when opening poping noise from speakers when you start van back tail light (3rd brake light) housing that hold bulb melted to bulb! Tail gate lift hesitates when opening
57000 mi driver's side seat heater failed
89000 mi battery went dead from leaving lights on too long. After a jump, car displayed several warning lights and side doors no longer opened. Went to dealer and had to have a software reset. This apparently is a known problem with Odyssey's when the battery dies.
