My family has owned four Hyundai vehicles since 1999 and none of them has been undependable or needed anything beyond normal maintenance.
Pretty responsive handling and nimbleness for a cheaper car.

The cheapness comes through here. Not a comfortable car for longer trips.
Not nearly on par with the competition.
Noisy, unrefined engine and road and wind noise can be annoying.
I think they are much more reliable than the brand gets credit for.
