Introduction

I love the vehicle, but some things, specifically the transaxle programming needed more beta testing before market release. I'm confident these issues will improve with time.

Why the 2014 Jeep Cherokee?

Exterior styling

You either love it or you don't but if you do, its an awesome ride, very expressive, especially the TrailHawk.

Interior styling

Everyone who gets into it says the interior is beautiful, futuristic and high quality, even people who drive German luxury vehicles. That says a lot.

Audio & nav systems

FCA's Uconnect 8.4N and the updated 8.4AN are the best infotainment system in any non-luxury brand vehicle hands down and better than even what some luxury cars get.

Driving position & visibility

You get a commanding view of the road, the TrailHawk is even better because of its 1" factory lift.

Feature availability

This vehicle can be equipped with every feature known to man if you're willing to pay for it.

Why Not the 2014 Jeep Cherokee?

Fuel economy

The 3.2 V6 doesn't boast the best fuel economy for a vehicle that is relatively light and very aerodynamic.

Ride smoothness

The off road tires don't provide a smooth ride on pavement and they can be loud at times.

Tires

The tires quickly pack with snow and then spin if you're not careful. You need to keep the vehicle in snow on anything slick to keep this from happening constantly.

Cargo capacity

Cargo space isn't as pleantiful as it is in vehicles in the same class but its enough for me.

Other Features of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Front seat support & comfort

The front seats can be comfortable if you spend the time to adjust them. Adjust them poorly and they will make you pay, get it right and they are some of the most comfortable around.

Rear seat room & comfort

My 6'3 friends can sit in the back with no issues. There is more head room in the vehicles without the sunroof.

Interior storage compartments

There are so many that I can't even put something in every one of them.

I disagree with the fuel economy in relation to the vehicle weight. Every model of Cherokee weighs over 2 tons. There are other vehicles in this class that barely weigh 3,000 pounds. The fact that this vehicle gets anywhere near 30 MPG on its best day is a heck of an accomplishment. I will say that it does get very poor gas mileage if you do a lot of city driving or it is very cold outside. I agree with the rest of your review though. Like the styling. like the interior, love the seats. I have had nothing to complain about so far

What engine do you have? I have a 3.2L Trailhawk and it has never got anything close to 30 mpg. I drive 25 miles to work each way daily and have been driving the Trailhawk since June of 2014. My drive is 85% freeway, on which I use cruise control, the remaining drive has two stops and no traffic.

I've never achieved, even on a trip where the outside temperature was 55 and I stayed under 70 mph the entire 4 hour highway drive more than 24 mpg.

A 2.4L tigershark front wheel drive Cherokee might get close to 30 mpg, but a V6 TrailHawk will not. I've got close to 6,000 miles on mine so this isn't like my first tank of gas anything.

Recently drove to California from BC and in US terms I got 27 to 28 mpg while cruising at 75+ through the flatlands of California. One thing I found is better mileage at 75 than at 65-70 because the car uses the elusive 9th gear around 74mph.

Normally get 21-22 in the mountainous terrain I live live in.

Based on 3.2L V6 North (Latitude in US)

Tires

Switched to Nokian All-Weather tires - WGR 3s and find them great in all conditions including up to 2 ft of snow, ice and heavy rain. Not as quiet as the OEMs, but not bad.
