Ticking sound under load. Misdiagnosed as failing front right spindle. Further diagnosed as failing drive shaft segment between the transmission and the transfer case. Vehicle returned to service without addressing the drive shaft issue in order to make a warranty claim with the dealership. Ticking audible when accelerating from a stop on an incline when drivetrain under load diagnosed by independent repair shop as failing drive shaft segment between transmission and transfer case. Despite my informing the dealer service departing maintenance manager of this, they decided to troubleshoot the issue without taking this into consideration. After keeping my vehicle at the dealership for 5 days, they called and informed me that they had been struggling to isolate where the noise was originating from but had come to a consensus that the front right spindle was failing and would need to be replaced. I explained to the service manager that this diagnosis was very likely incorrect by virtue of the fact that the right front spindle had already been replaced the week prior, and reiterated what the previous maintenance shop had concluded was causing the noise after 4 days of troubleshooting and fault tracing. I explained to him for the second time that it was the aforementioned driveshaft, which he finally accepted and communicated to the floor mechanic. Later he called and informed me that they had inspected that drive shaft segment and indeed found abnormal wear marks which explained the noise, confirmed the fault which was originally given to them, and that the drive shaft and related components would need to be replaced. He informed me that the repair was covered under the extended warranty, but the parts needed to be ordered from the national Mopar parts distribution center. He explained that the global supply chain issues were indeed being felt by their system as well, and that while the parts would be ordered that day, he expected at least a week and a half delay before they would be delivered to them. I authorized the repair and accepted the vehicle back into service with the understanding that they would contact me once the parts arrived to schedule the maintenance repairs needed. This occurred 3½ weeks ago, and despite my making no fewer than a dozen calls per week to inquire, these parts have still not arrived as of this writing.

Wife received Service 4WD Message. Dealer replaced 4WD transfer case control module. Tested another 160-170 miles and returned car to us as fixed, safe. Service 4WD Light on again. Car stereo/Nav was cutting out while driving back to dealer -- this is what happened when car first died. Car is still at dealer at this point, we are filing for Lemon buyback.
2000 mi Dealer replaced Transfer Case and selector switch - something about clutches being too tight as determined by Chrysler STAR engineers. Vehicle has been as designed since then, but was in shop for a LONG time with this one.

Shifting to Park and then back to Drive worked for a short distance but would happen again. Good thing I was on a side street when this happened. Towed to the dealer. You should have seen the faces of the tow truck driver and service writer when I explained the problem. Dealer called Chrysler Engineering, then replaced paddle shifter and entire steering column module (clock spring) over 7 days.
16300 mi hard 1/2 up and down shift, there's a "bump." Dealer performed TSB update replaced valve body/reprogrammed TCM.

16000 mi Check engine light came on. Transmission code. Flash update only thing required.

Problem not resolved and in some cases was made worse. I was told that the shudder is now a normal characteristic of this vehicle. Front right axle seal was bad for a while and who knows how long front diff was running with virtually no oil. Rear pinion seal was bad and replaced a few years ago, but when changing rear diff fluid, clearly water was present and possibly for years in there. So as a preventative maintenance item, both the front and rear differentials were rebuilt (new ring & pinion, seals, front diff mount, rear axles). In reality all parts actually still looked good, but I wasn't going to chance it to tow things. Unfortunately the rear end ring and pinion whine was not resolved. it is definitely quiter, but still very pronounced with the Chrysler 8.25" diff. Possibly a higher-end R&P kit might have fixed it, but functionality and cheaper costs are my priority with this vehicle.
