Reviewed: 2008 Jeep Patriot

4dr SUV 158-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed shiftable CVT FWD

Why the 2008 Jeep Patriot?

Fuel economy

I am getting about 8.6 L/100 km overall (about 27 mpg) which is good.

Price or payments

I bought this upgraded vehicle for just $19K out the door, with just 25,000 km on the odometer.

Driving position & visibility

The seating and visiblilty fomr trhe drivers postion is very good, tall enough to get a good view of the road ahead and more than adequate leg room (I am 183 cm tall)

Handling

I find the suspension and steering stiffness just right, not mushy at all, but the suspension soaks up the bumps quite well.

Exterior styling

The traditional Jeep look.

Why Not the 2008 Jeep Patriot?

Cargo capacity

Compared to a minivan, it is limited. I was able to bring home a new dryer in the cargo compartment, but just barely. The more boxy shape at the back end was handy for this task, better than a Compass, which is almost the same vehicle.
