On a "tripcheck" before letting my wife take the Jeep for an extended trip, The mechanic found that one of the tie rods was sub-par. I asked that he save the parts for me. When I picked it up, he showed me the entire drivers side tie rod. Both ends of the tie rod had slack and worst of all is the threads of the adjustment were mis-manufactured to have slack in them. That means that there was a flex in the threads that allow for adjustment even when the backnut was tight (IE wheel alignment). |
