ball joints from factory were pressed in to control arm and thus both had to be replaced. Even after-market control arms had pressed in ball joints as is the same on many similar vehicles. This one was not taken off-road other than very few.
53000 mi

US $300
On a "tripcheck" before letting my wife take the Jeep for an extended trip, The mechanic found that one of the tie rods was sub-par. I asked that he save the parts for me. When I picked it up, he showed me the entire drivers side tie rod. Both ends of the tie rod had slack and worst of all is the threads of the adjustment were mis-manufactured to have slack in them. That means that there was a flex in the threads that allow for adjustment even when the backnut was tight (IE wheel alignment).

Dealer misdiagnosed snap/clunk feeling in Steering Column. Steering Column was replaced ,and paid for by Jeep under good will ,but did not fix the issue. Vehicle has had a snap/clunk in front suspension going over small potholes for 4 years. This visit the dealer mis-diagnosed the noise as the front struts again for the fourth time.
