Reviewed: 2006 Land Rover LR3

4dr SUV 216-horsepower 4.0L V6 6-speed shiftable automatic AWD w/low range

Why the 2006 Land Rover LR3?

Quietness

Fairly composed even under hard acceleration. Really good sound insulation.

Price or payments

I bought it used (off lease) and took advantage of its quick depreciation. Bought it for around 43% of MSRP only after 3 1/2 years.

Safety & braking

Very strong brakes (dealer installed new brake pads prior to selling) and body shell. All modern safety equipment are present.

Why Not the 2006 Land Rover LR3?

Fuel economy

My V6 is returning 16L/100km (14 MPG) in mostly city driving. Not a good number.

Powertrain performance

The V6 could use more power, however it is paired up quite good with the 6 spd ZF automatic.

Feature availability

No Xenon or memory seats are available.

Brand reputation & image

I believe the newer Land Rovers are the most reliable ever, however they still have some big obstacles to overcome when it comes to brand image.. I know people who will NOT consider Land Rovers from past reputation alone.
