Earlier common problem with brake calipers seizing up. Even earlier this was a common problem with previous model years of the 4th-gen 4Runner. Not an issue with the 2007s, at least not yet.

Yes it is a Rover, very unique in it's capability, comfort, and flexibility. Lots of gadgets, but the more there is, the more there is to break. This vehicle (I've owned it for about 3 months) has had an overheating problem. It has 133,000 miles on it, so replaced radiator, thermostat housing, and all hoses. (over $2000 in parts and labor). Next is to change the transmission filter and fluid since it was probably never done. Tranmission works perfectly, want to keep it that way. ($800 estimate) Love the vehicle, love the flexibility in bad weather (ice & snow) and the off road in the mounains capability. Rides quietly, and lowers to get in and out, and raises for off road.

Constantly in the shop. Electrical issues. Towed in for repair 3 times in the last 3 weeks.

Overall, my car has been very reliable--particularly with respect to the major drivetrain components of the vehicle. However, items like the rear windshield wiper, the tailgate, the stereo, the horn, etc. have had numerous issues.

Electrical system is a joke. It's like Christmas time year round on my dashboard, with every single warning sign built into the vehicle lit up. The windows and rear gate work VERY sporadicly, often leaving me with a window down in the rain.

I seemed to have a lemon, with many electrical problems over the 7 years. Door lock actuators broke 8 times (for 4 doors), an AC sensor forced a new compressor, I replaced the AC control panel, I replaced the AC clutch relay and had other such problems.
