Mazda Mazda3 Lemon Odds and Nada Odds through December 31, 2012
General NotesNote the sample sizes in the right column. For a precise Nada Odds, it'd be best to have 50+ cars. For Lemon Odds, 100+. In most cases the sample sizes are between 25 and 35, and differences of less than six points are probably not meaningful. This is especially a factor with the "Lemon Odds," where nearly all scores are low. That said, the Lemon Odds figures are probably much lower than many people suspected, so we've posted them. Similarly, the Nada Odds are probably higher than many people suspected. Even with the least reliable cars in this results set your odds of no repairs would be better than one in three. Surprised? MethodologyThe samples include cars for which we have at least nine months of data in the past year. The "Nada-odds" are adjusted based on the average number of months of data per car. These stats are very close to what they'd be if we included only cars with a full year of data.
Only successfully completed repairs are currently included in the analysis. Recalls and problems fixed with just a reflash or warning light reset are not included.

Good reputation, and quality is way up. JDPower just put them right at the top, over Civic |
| 2010 | 4dr Hatch turbocharged 263hp 2.3L I4 6-speed manual FWD |
Mazda has always been reliable and viewed as a fun to drive, sporty brand. |
| 2010 | 4dr Sedan 167-horsepower 2.5L I4 5-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
I seem to like almost all the cars they produce. Sporty ones (mx-5, rx-8) and not so sporty ones (CX suvs, mazda6). Besides, Zoom-Zoom! |
| 2010 | 4dr Sedan 148-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Zoom Zoom is an effective marketing strategy. The original Rx7 (which I owned) put real go-cart style sports car performance in an affordable bracket. They continue to do so with the RX8, as well as the 3 and 6 |
| 2010 | 4dr Sedan 167-horsepower 2.5L I4 6-speed manual FWD |
Even though many disagree... The smile in the front of the 3 is in reality a "grin". Mazda designs vehicles that keep drivers want to test their vehicles and continue driving them. |
| 2009 | 4dr Hatch 156-horsepower 2.3L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Mazda lives up to its zoom tagline and is known for reliability and longevity. The 3 is the successor to the Protege5. |
| 2009 | 4dr Hatch turbocharged 263hp 2.3L I4 6-speed manual FWD |
This car has won Car & Driver Magazines Best Hot Hatch comparison 3 years running. It is THE BEST performance buy on the market. The 3 has good CR/CU/JD Power ratings. |

| 2006 | 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.3L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
Mazda has a reputation for building fun and reliable cars, and for me that was the best possible combination. After three years, the 3 has more than lived up to the hype. |

Mazda is known for its younger image. |
