Whining noise noticeable when slowing to a stop, noise stopped when clutch was disengaged, local mechanic informed that the manual transmission has a faulty bearing or similar problem- likely related to engine failure/replacement three months prior.
Started popping out of 3rd gear intermittently (manual transmission). Diagnosed as worn synchro on 3rd gear, living with the problem until it gets bad enough to spend the $$$ to repair!
Transmission replaced with a used one from a salvage vehicle. Less expensive than attempting to repair/rebuilt existing manual transmission.
Clutch release bearing was making noise. Clutch pedal assembly was initially suspected but it was the bearing. Clutch itself was also replaced for whatever reason.
