Had to change both struts at about 68,000 miles. Also changed brake pads and turned rotors but brakes squeal. Brakes from Napa. This car has been problematic. Ride is terrible and extremely loud. Getting rid of it ASAP. Wheel bearing on driver's side needs replacement. Requires nearly complete teardown of all links and CV joint just to get to the bearing. Poor design and very costly in labor. Previous strut and brakes change, now this. Getting rid of it.

181000 mi

US $600
Electrical short in engine wire harness. Caused Engine bus bar #1 to pop fuse repeatedly after changing several sensors/parts. Still can't dind
189000 mi

US $2500
After changing the entire engine and body harness, I discovered the culprit was the purge valve connector behind the fuel tank and charcoal canister. It was shorted causing the eng #1 fuse to pop. After 7 months and $2500, I finally got the car to run but probably needs a new body control module but don't know which one to get: the Mazda base or Mazda GT. The harness came from a base but I own a GT? After changing entire engine harness and body harness, some systems don't work properly. For example, the body control module likely needs to be replaced. The power steering, cruise control, heated seats, and sunroof don't work. No connectors for the heated seat switches, the ABS seat connector doesn't match the airbag under seat wiring.

tire wear shows rear end toe in ( /- ). Noise in rear, esp over bumps. Shop found broken rear shock, and replaced bushings. Vent airflow direction controller tab on pssgr side/nr window fell off. Happened once before, but found part and re-installed. This time, replacing it altogether. Car burned 1 litre of oil since last service. Tipped up with 20W50 between oil changes. Told to monitor condition and see if continues. Shop indicated the wrong coolant was used in car. Car has always been dealer serviced so dealer must have made error. Had system flushed and new coolant applied. Concerned on implications with premature oil loss.

Sliding door soft-close motor bangs/jumps when temperatures go below freezing, occasionally causing sliding door to latch improperly. The Mazda dealer could not identify a cause. The only "solution" offered was an expensive door motor replacement with no guarantee it would fix the problem and they suggested I try a body shop instead. Since the problem goes away above freezing and spring has come it is no longer possible to reproduce the problem for anyone else. I will have to wait until the return of below freezing temperatures in the fall when the problem will return, as it did last year.
