The other big plus is space. I am 6'4" with two sons over six foot tall. Even with me driving, there is enough space behind the drivers seat, and plenty of headroom. For the first time people actually tell me the back seats are comfortable! see full Mazda Mazda6 review

What Our Members Are Saying about the Powertrain of the 2008 Mazda Mazda6

2008 Mazda Mazda6 Powertrain: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2009 4dr Sedan 272-horsepower 3.7L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Great! The transmission is silky smooth - it's hard to tell when the six speed shifts! Engine pulls strongly; 0-60 mph under 6 seconds with lots of power from the bored out Lincoln V-6 272hp engine. The coolest thing is how the transmission holds the shift so you can accelerate fast out of a curve. see full Mazda Mazda6 review
2007 4dr Sedan 156-horsepower 2.3L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
4 cylinder feels very quick to me. see full Mazda Mazda6 review
2007 4dr Sedan 212-horsepower 3.0L V6
5-speed manual FWD
Since the Fusion and the Mazda 6 are essentially the same car, it came down to which was the preferred version. The Mazda has a very nice shifting 5 speed manual available in the V6. see full Mazda Mazda6 review
2008 Mazda Mazda6 Powertrain: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2009 4dr Sedan 170-horsepower 2.5L I4
6-speed manual FWD
Needs another 200 hp and 300 ft/lbs of torque. To be fair first gear is geared really low. Once you run the engine up to 5500 to 6000 rpm then second gear has some grip. The variable valve time really helps during cruise but passing requires down shifting see full Mazda Mazda6 review
2009 4dr Sedan 170-horsepower 2.5L I4
5-speed shiftable automatic FWD
mazda6 likes high rpms, under 4000 rpm nothing happens, i think V6 works better than 2.5 170hp 4 cylinder see full Mazda Mazda6 review
2009 4dr Sedan 170-horsepower 2.5L I4

not enough horses in the i trim see full Mazda Mazda6 review
2008 4dr Hatch 212-horsepower 3.0L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
There are plenty of turbo 4 cylinders that have equal or better performance than this 6 cylinder engine. The car should be more powerful with a 6 in it see full Mazda Mazda6 review
2007 4dr Sedan turbocharged 270hp 2.3L I4
6-speed manual AWD
Despite the good performance I rate the engine a bit of a mixed bag. Very toruey in the mid range it runs out of puff fairly early on which does not exactly sceam sporty to me. Also very flaccid low down in the rev range which mean around town you can be out accelerated by very prosaic machinery unless you work at it. I would sooner have a straight 6 any day of the week myself. see full Mazda Mazda6 review

What Our Members Are Saying about the Tires of the 2008 Mazda Mazda6

2008 Mazda Mazda6 Tires: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2007 4dr Wagon 212-horsepower 3.0L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
My car has the 18" low profile tires, which are quite attractive. However, Mazda must have manufcatured magnets into these wheels, as I have had more flat tires in the car than any other, driven on the same roads. see full Mazda Mazda6 review
