29000 mi

US $650
Two injectors and a injection coil gone bad
29650 mi

US $1200
Dealer repaired bank 1, fuel injector 5 and 6 were not working and ignition coil 5 was out. after 400 miles of driving, check engine light popped up and dealer identified that fuel injector for cylinder 2 & 3 are not working causing misfire. Dealer wanted to drop the tank @ my cost of $1500, and after that any parts required, will be extra. On top of that the injector for 2 & 3 will not be covered, which was another $1750. Plus god knows what other issues they identify and slap the bill on me. So, I personally purchased fuel injectors from the dealer and replaced it, to find the care running smoothly as ever.

Front tires needed replacement after getting worn out from the inside edges due to bad alignment. It is a repeat "feature" - the car seems to eat either the front set of tires or the rear one. Driven 8 miles daily. No harsh turns or breaks whatsoever. But the issue keeps on coming up in 8-10K miles. And its either the front set or the rear. Car is always dealer maintained and all reports show alignment as correct and other components working as required. IF anything is off, i get it replaced immediately. This is my wife's daily driver and I don't like her or kids stranded on road side so I maintain it religiously.

ESP failure alarm constantly coming up with related tyre pressure sensor inoperative. Suspension becomes harsh while failure showing. Steering angle sensor failure in this case. Could also have been brake light switch or a wheel speed sensor. Removed and replaced steering angle sensor with second hand unit. New Mercedes part unreasonably priced for what it is. I can now advise the the old unit was in fact serviceable. Stripped it down, cleaned it and retested it and it works just fine. Simple job but must be done carefully. Many video's online to follow.

Gearbox in limp mode. Bump into drive and reverse. Will not change out of 2ND gear. Speed sensor on Contact plate failed. Contact plate replaced with reconditioned unit. This was a fail. Ultimately took three units before it would work. Also proper adaption had to be completed using STAR to resolve gear changing. Mercedes dealership would not supply genuine part unless done in their workshop. Yet they also use same shop I used to program.Their quote almost three times the amount. Later found we could buy the genuine plate via a gearbox spares company for the same price of the recon unit. Heard a Ceraking noise in suspension over speed bumps. Inspected suspension and found ball joint worn. Replaced drivers side lower ball joint with arm.

Gearbox had a false shift in second gear. required gearbox overhaul and replacement torque converter. On completion it showed a wiring fault with oxygen sensors. This was thought to be a ECU failure. But after many months of diagnosis I insisted on replacing the downstream oxygen sensors suspecting they may have been damaged when the box was pulled. This resolved the problem

This really increased the bill, so I'm quite unhappy that this wasn't properly noticed previously.
