The rear pass. fender completely rusted out where the shock tower mounts to the mental fender. The undercoating that was used prematurely deteriorates from the factory. This is a massive known problem with Escapes and Mariners. I was able to buy a shock support bracket and bolted the new shock to the frame and cut the rust out and repaired it with fiberglass resin. The drivers side started rusting also and I had to patch that. I saved thousands of dollars by not taking it to a body shop and getting new fenders welded in on both sides. |
